Barrett's inability to coach isn't a fact, it's an opinion. Who is to say Barrett's coaching and DCE's on field performances are mutually exclusive events ? Likewise the effect of Fainu drama on our season, subjective opinion. Turbo's game frequency is fact, and if anything proves who the key player in this team is as our win rate drops through the floor without him in side. Irrefutable FACT is we have won 3 finals games since we put all our eggs in DCE basket. 3 finals games in 10 years.

You are clearly a massive DCE fan, which is fine by me. Personally I think he has been decidedly underwhelming since 2015 backflip. No amount of quoting his 2011 premiership and his 2013 Clive Churchill medal is going to change my opinion that since we signed him on an 8 year deal he hasn't delivered enough to justify the amount of money we spent on him. He's not elite, he's just a better than average NRL half that only looks good behind a dominant team. That's my opinion and I'm not trying to pass it off as fact. The only fact I can give you is that we haven't won a premiership for 13 years.
Wow. OK let's dance.

I would expect most to agree TB isn't a coached arsehole. That's a fact. When TB arrived he did an article in the DT that stickers in my mind to this day. In it he talks about how he wants to change DCE's game into that of a Thurston type. Apparently because he was a attacking master back in his day TB was 100% assured it would make DCE a much better player. Surprisingly DCEs form throughout the TB years was Luke warm at best. So yes I'd say there is a pretty strong link between TB's lack of coaching ability and DCE's dip in form.

The manese situation had a huge effect on our side. Firstly the situation itself was bad enough but we also let go appi to accommodate the little toerag. That in itself is a pretty huge issue. All of a sudden we went from 2 quality no.9s to zero.

You talk about the last 10 years and putting all our eggs in the DCE basket. Ever heard of a rebuilding phase that never quite succeeded thanks to basketcase owners and a propensity to self emplode? When Des returned we made a semi and a prelim final in 4 years. the other 2 years were marred by the manese failure and covid rule changes.

sure i like DCE but if he wants to go that's fine too. What's not fine is to try and pin 10 years of club level failure on one guy who has hardly missed a game. Look at Reynolds at souths. A stacked team for many years and only 1 premiership. Out injured more times than I can remember. Was it all on Reynolds that souths was a failure?

You know, I think you present some strong anecdotal evidence and occasional facts and I agree that DCE has given wonderful service to the club over many years. When he announced he was leaving, I was devastated. I don’t believe Fogerty is anywhere near DCE as a footballer.

But…

DCE didn’t want to sign with Manly for reasons we do not know about. We can speculate but we don’t know.

So…

You have the option of blaming the club based on speculation, and side with the guy that didn’t have enough care for you (a fan) to announce his departure respectfully or get behind the club that will be there long after Daly is done and dusted…

There’s no point wasting time arguing how good he is and how dumb our club are, when you don’t know if they’re to blame in the first place. Regardless, we’ll never like every decision the club makes but it’s still our club and I’m not gonna let one player change that.
But you have to admit this isn't the clubs first rodeo. If this was a one off instance then sure. Dce's a dog and see ya later but our club has been self harming for 25 years. If it waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck you can bet your last dollar it's probably not a cat.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Pride saga and subsequent sacking of Des has a bit to do with Daly’s feelings towards the club. That debacle was one pf our great ‘own goals’, so again, I take your point.

EOL … you have horses or bulls for your rodeo… dogs, ducks and cats … where do you live?

Just sayin’

Well there's 1 thing
DCE still plays at Manly today so how about supporting him now
Rip his head off next season is fair game, but the negative stuff now is terrible
Let's support the team .... including DCE in 2025

If anyone watched the Chooks Vs Saints clash, you’ll see the dangers of a mediocre kicking game. The Chooks started almost every set today from the middle of the field, at least 30m out from their own line. Illias really let them down with poor yardage kicks.

I wouldn't be here for starters if I didn't, so I think we both know that's a bit of a moot point. I'm talking about cherry, nothing more and nothing less.
Well I get that
And many are holding him 100% for the downward spiral ...
I see his form dip, but based more on the lack of go forward through the middle and ANY 7 will struggle in the same situation
Has always been a flamboyant type player who takes chances and does not play percentages and that's for better or worse
Effort is there as Defensive plats are your best guide and has been solid there
Penrith tomorrow ... I'm worried....but hopeful
A win would suddenly change momentum amongst team and fans

Fingers crossed. Will be a tough one. Penrith have found some form. But I will be there cheering the boys on

Many are also holding Mestrov and the clubs incompetent contract Negotiants for the downward spiral which ultimately led Mestrov to an all time CEO Low when he made a pathetic and Embarrassing knee jerk offer live on the Jerry Springer NRL fox Gossip Show
That was the most unprofessional conduct from a CEO .

If Mestrov was a Smart Ceo
He would know how DCEs Manager work$
He would know what Elite halves demand
He would also know t the club was never prepared to offer him that type of money
So Instead of Preparing life without DCE and Wishing DCE all the best
The Reactive CEO turned the Contract Negotiations into a Circus

Bring it on , this is all so repetitive now and we have the

Pro DCE posters , butting heads with the
Anti DCE posters ( yet again )

None of us know the true story.

I can’t wait until this season is finished , any joy I used to get has been completely sucked out now.
Chin up. We do have in common that we're all pro Manly supporters. I guess as fans we make up our own narratives to suit ourselves and our moods. But we'll all move on. Upwards I hope.

Whatever the real reason is, what DCE did by going on channel 9 sans any Manly badged clothing & without the club’s knowledge was extremely unprofessional & reeked of sour grapes & petulance.
or it reeks of behind the scenes trouble between the club captain and the circus that is and will always be Manly (under the Penns ownership)

The apparent circus didnt seem to stop Haumole, Taniela, Lehi, Saab, Kola etc signing on for extended periods. Some promising kids signed too. If the club and a captain don't see eye to eye, so be it.

Can we name another player who thought he was an exclusive and went on TV to announce he will retire or play for any club but their current club.

Dopey DCE was caught hook line and sinker for a journo to get his own exclusive and ratings to watch a car crash.

He could have just let it play out like other players do, or have both he and the club do a press conference to announce their separation at the end of the year, but DCE didnt tell them and announced it on ch9 instead, but his explanation had holes in it which raised more questions.

Me thinks DCE wanted to paint a villain, and that wasn't going to be him. The ch9 gig was to get people onside with him with his decision. Oh how sweet of him was it to announce it on ch9 so manly could plan for their future without him, instead of knocking on the door and telling them directly.

To the main, that ch9 gig has backfired on him... significantly
