The Raiders will..he's not leaving.

Their offer is already matching ours on money $700k for 2 years..our trump is its for 3..

It's the only reason Jamal is even considering it now.

But Ricky isn't letting him go.
The Raiders will have a plan post footy for him that will give him financial security past the 3 years.

And I think you will find the raiders did have an option to keep him and extend for 2026..but it was probably ratchet clauses up on big $$$ 800k +.. they thought it was too much and he wouldn't be getting that sort of money on the open market..they thought maybe $600 and they would then match that..keeping Jamal there and at the same time saving some cash...hedged their bets thinking we let the deadline pass and see what offers Jamal gets.. thinking because of his age most clubs would maybe go in at around $600k and possibly 2 years..which they would match..

And this is exactly what the Raiders are now doing..matching offers.. it's backfired on them a little, but they know all they have to do is match other offers and he stays.

It's only because we've lost DCE that we have had to go in harder, further complicating things for the Raiders.. it's why Ricky has been carrying on for the last 2 weeks.

They probably didn't want to pay $800k for 1 season.. now they will end up paying 1.4 mill for 2.

This makes no sense at all as Canberra already had a club option which they chose not to activate for $650k for 2 years.

It’s getting to the point where I don’t care if he comes or not. Either way, he’s obviously very happy where he is, so do we want/need another less than enthusiastic journey man looking for a pre retirement pay day? I’m sure we will manage with brooks/turbo or Arthur/brooks who are already on the payroll, and we can use the $750k on forwards.

Agree I think we will be in a good position to buy into 2027 season as the turbo brothers will take a pay cut of sorts and for Jake a likely significant one. Also we will be no longer paying for Schuster .

Our best young players (hoppa , koula , Ola , Clayton etc) will all be hitting their prime years

Maybe, but we are already paying turbo and Arthur, so it’s 1.3m vs 600k. The difference could buy a gun forward.

No I agree with you DCE over his career is a better player than Fogarty but Cliff Lyons is better than Brooks also but it is irrelevant as Lyons and DCE are not an option

I'm willing to rule out DCE but I haven't given up on a cliffy comeback yet.

A new team coming in, up go players prices again.... Fogarty will be real cheap in 12 months, I think he is good value now.

I don't believe that.. I think you will find out was on a ratchet clause...for bigger $$$.. so they opted to try their luck.. and is sort of backfired because we have come in due to the DCE situation...

Raiders thought.. rather than pay $800 + let him test the market and come back to us

Look we all know the premium player DCE is so, as others have pointed out it is difficult to compare the two however as you can see on the numbers above they are just different sort of players

Do they have stat's for.. crabbing around.. throwing hospital passes..no early ball for centres or back rowers.. miss reads in defence/rushing out of line... hero plays.. lack of control of games in tight matches.

What about a stat that tells how he inspires/bonds the team during a match when the side comes under a bit of adversity.

Guess that everything is relative but the Broncs were allowed to pick up Ben Hunt for what ? - 500 - 550 K . Seems a bit on the dubious side
Really do not think that Arthur can be a viable option ,
Maybe could be a competitive 6 somewhere out there at a realistic price to allow Brooks to revert to half but probably only that Knights 6 who seems a bit on the outer there right now and club just does not seem real keen for Brooks or maybe Brooks himself to take on a 7 role again
Know that Fogarty has or used to have a bit of speed which should be a bit of a plus but guess that he is just mainly rated as a quite steady and serviceable half
.700 K for 3 years , still not overly enthused on that prospect
