Jake T.

Untill he came off concussed he was really hitting hard and the way he was leading the defensive line was like a man on a mission ….dont follow the ball …watch the players body language after the play the ball once Jake has whacked them …but I agree less minutes and a new deal…jake has plenty to offer still and as someone else posted vey similar to Randall in the eighties. Most importantly he bleeds manly and if he can pass that attitude onto the young guys coming through then he is well worth 2 more years .

Can still play a role, but on reduced minutes.
What role? I just don’t see any benefit in the way he plays anymore. Hes slow, basically never breaks the line, can be used as a link man but theres also no risk with him because his running game is so average. Great front on defender yes, but laterally not so quick anymore. Jazz Tevaga basically offers what Jake does but more dynamic and likely on a third of the coin. The rule changes and speed of the game has been cruel to Jake. One of the best defenders I’ve seen but unfortunately his style of defence isn’t rewarded now. The game is all about gang tackles and slowing the ruck as much as possible not about cutting blokes in two at the waist and then they often get a quicker play the ball.

A lot of respect for Jake everyone loves him which is why everyone is concerned with his wellbeing. Please think about retiring gracefully champ there would be plenty at the club to keep you busy and long term maybe a future coach.

I think he could eventually be a defensive coach but maybe he is to nice a guy..I like Jake but I think his time is coming to an end…hasn’t really made an impact for quite some time now…can’t just be taking a spot cause your likeable or your all heart

“Team heart and soul and custodian of precious Manly DNA”. Only thing money can’t buy. Couldn’t give a stuff if he can’t run like Payne Haas or master the gang flop like Isiah Yeo. There’s more to the game than stats.

I really do not want to agree with this…. but…

He's contracted until the end of next year, so let's give him some breathing space. He may decide to retire anyway, and if not, maybe a year-to-year contract on a substantially reduced rate. Either way, he is a man of honour and we know he is not going to screw the club over.

Honestly that was one of the worst ones I have seen in all my years watching. Also when they went to the shot of him on the sideline later looking like he was a million miles away.

I do agree that there is need for a discussion over his role (although I am not as black and white as some on here) however I do not feel comfortable doing it while he is recovering from such a sickening head knock ( i know a soft approach but I am sticking to it)

Team heart , Manly DNA etc etc
But Team stats still matter
So we can have the best of both worlds
A more Dynamic young forward that bends the line
and Jake on the coaching staff to keep Inspiring

It’s possible he was just daydreaming on the sidelines. I have that look on my face often, but it’s usually when the wife is nagging me about something.

As soon as Jake came off with that Head Knock
Jake did not have any noticeable impact on the team
Infact the Team stepped up a gear and increased their lead
What is Noticeable. Jake is slower and not the player once was

Still has something to offer providing his recent concussions don 't become a recurring problem .
When Tent returns and into next season , guess that it may come down to he , T K O and Jake best starting prop options but Bully and of course ideally still with the club looks like he could be in the starting prop equation as well .Then that is not taking into account Aloiai
And even Lodge could well have some more petrol in the tank on going
Only other untested prop but with some apparent ability could be Patolo
Sipps may have dropped down the pecking order a bit
Really do not think that Jake has a whole lot more to offer as a 13,r maybe a limited role in the short term but has to be in a game day 17 for a bit longer yet , all things normal

He has one more year 2026 to go
One wonders how 2025 will end for him

IMO He has the Heart and the Heart is Willing
But the Body has a DNA of its own
Yep. Age catches up with all of us unfortunately. Some sooner than others. Jake has a decision to make THIS YEAR. I hope he makes that decision and not someone else. I have mentioned in other threads that I think he would be brilliant as a key part of our coaching staff. That's where his future is with the club. We need that heart and soul and Manly DNA there as much as on the field.

Yeah the wife, lol. Women.

Actually a woman once tried to tell me that men are typically hoping to ingratiate themselves with other men when they use those classic put-downs of their women folk, such as the nagging missus bit. What do you reckon, @BOZO?
