Jackson Hastings

Would like to see him start at hooker and see how he handles to tough early stuff and how his passing goes when fatigued.

Really looks like he could be the next Cam Smith, the way he controls things and has all the skills, defence is the big unknown.

Yup watched
He has shown enough this season with limited game time
They should be offering him an extension
Watched him real close in the Bunnies game - so slick at dummy half.. Almost Cameron Smith like in the way he engages markers and then throws perfect passes. Noticed he really pushes up and is always aware/looking for the offload from the ball runner. Then of course throw in the general play kicking and goal kicking..Just ticks so many boxes - future star this fella with any luck!

His relationship and respect for Barrett will see him stay, strongly agree he should be extended before end of the season. Agree long term half to partner DCE. Let the good times roll! Great thread. GO MANLY

Yes, he was Barrett's neighbour or something wasn't he? So let's hope that relationship with the potential to partner Cherry after Green moved on will keep him with the mighty Sea Eagles. Being the young age he is, if we kept him at Manly for life he would be the elder stateman to take over once DCE retires (but that's a long way off).... I think a long term DCE/Hastings combo would set Manly up very well.

Hastings is 95kg (according to zerotackle.com) so he definitely has the size to play either 6 or 9 long term. Really, because I honestly believe he could play either position at a high level, it comes down to what other options at 6 or 9 do we have faith in and plug Hastings into the one we have the least. I couldn't tell you what our depth is like at 9 or 6 in the U20s or what will be available on the market over the next 1-2 years.

Regardless, he must be in a starting position by the start of next year (if not earlier) for us to maintain him in the maroon and white.

We've also got Joey Lussick running around in the lower grades and he could still turn out to be pretty handy in the future.

1- T Turbo
6-Green
7-Hastings
9-DCE

Nice spine I say..

He does half our tackling and he's our 7! Same type of build as Cam..

Fire away

I think you have your 7 and 9 mixed up there mate 😉 Having said that, I do think DCE is the better defender out of the 2 from what I've seen....

Maybe I have , maybe I haven't ??
I doubt we will ever find out unfortunately...
I doubt the million dollar man would tolerate the change, even if he already has a life fixed contract!
Some how we need to get that Hastings kid into the 13, Now...

Your spot on mate
Know each other from the south coast

Even though some of our supporters are not fully sold on Barrett, which is ok, I think many of our players are.

He will get better technically as a coach with experience but those who know him and played with him will speak of a fearce and loyal team player Which to me has been a strength for us this year

Back to Jackson, he will be a keeper because he will want to be

We both very much agree on that 🙂
Jackson trained with the kids at U10 manly brothers this arvo, lovely bloke and was really enthusiastic with the kids. Played footy and kicking with them well after training finished. He is quite small so must be strong. I take back what i said about the banjo, hes a keeper. Billy B was there as well, no where near as big as other forwards

1. Green finds himself in the NRL team of the week. He had the best game of any half this week. Seriously. Repeat sets, directed us around the paddock. Scored a true. Defended like a wall. A half can not do more, than what Green just delivered against South, to justify his spot.

2. What i will agree on. @mosto Hastings class in setting up that try for Uate u speak of. As I posted in another thread, it's the timing of his run, it's just perfect. We are both boys in a candy shop watching it. There is just something so beautiful and magicestic about watching a half that is gifted with creating time and space so easily. Hastings has it......

3. The pressure for next year has to be on API. Green is class. Hastings is class. API he may be what Trent wants at hooker, but he is a fighter, he will get down and dirty, heart of a lion, just not in the same league as Green and Hastings.

4. If API continues to get better. It's a great position to be in. We have the cattle. They just need time.
