It's wrong

Gallen is considered a hero to many for punching Nate Myles repeatedly even though he had his hands down and wasn’t shaping up at all AND Gallen is an amateur boxer (albeit terrible). Scott punching Walker will probably appear on promos with crap like look how tough this game is. Pathetic.

Scott’s probably got 20 kegs on me but if it was a square go I’m sure I could hurt him badly but cats like him don’t like fair fights.

A couple of things (and it hurst me to do this)

1. Who knows when he made the statement and what he knew. He apologised for what he did
2. In a sport where some clubs rort the HIA how could you trust a club to give an accurate amount of time for an injured player? If we do not have independent people for HIA there is no way we would for this sort of thing...take last week. What is stop the titans saying their bloke is out for 8 weeks?

I may be guilty of not thinking of the children, but I totally rate and support Scott for throwing a punch and bringing back the biff

#1 There's no way he wrote the groveling apology it was written by the Drizzle's media manager, it's got way too many big words in it for Scott to have written it.

From the SMH article:

Earlier on Sunday, the Storm released a statement from Scott via Twitter showing his remorse for the incident.

"While it doesn't change what happened last night I would like to deeply apologise to my team, Manly and NRL fans for my actions. Not how I want to represent myself, my team, or the game," he said.

Who knows...which is my point

Scott has received a 28-point discount (one point for each minute he was sent off), otherwise he would have been facing a maximum of four games on the sidelines.
.

I legitimately thought that was a joke when I first read it posted by someone else. I had no idea that was even a thing? Hard to know if anyone remembers it happening before as the last send off was in 2015 they said.

It's like....wow, another great ultra professional operational protocol...not.

Teams need to hire a goon to take out the oppositions best player in the first minute. get a 79 point discount!

Do you get more points discounted if the game goes into extra time?

I believe Scott's grade 3 charge is supposed to carry a 3 week suspension with an early guilty plea, according to the NRL, not the 2 weeks being bandied about. We will see.

300 points less time served 200 points 😕
Scott did get 3 games till the NRL came up with the 1 game discount for his being off the field for the last 28 minutes :swear:

This is why the League Fans are angry as it's a new subjective rule 😎

i don't mind the discount - i think the overall penalty is too low considering the severity of the outcome for Walker, but taking into account the impact of sending someone off is reasonable.
having 12 men on the field is a more significant than being suspended, although i think they should have taken the 10 min walker incorrectly spent on the sideline off scott's time reduction.

You can only punish the action not the outcome. If it went too much the other way around it would be too prone to rortings and subjectivity - something the NRL has enough of.

We don't know that... and evidently neither does the NRL.

They seem like they are literally making this up as they go along. Precedence and logic aren't very evident in most of their decisions.

NRL precedence and logic. That's why we have been hit with salary cap restrictions for two years despite not actually being over the salary cap.

The NRL is a complete farce the way its run.

disgree, otherwise the penalty for an attempted swinging arm would be the same as if it connected
negligent action resulting in no harm can and should have a lesser penalty than negligent action resulting in injury

Has nothing to do with his injury. But has anyone who watches that pre game rubbish on fox Sunday’s noticed how Mackinnon bags manly at every opportunity. He’s just another media flog to me now.
I've went from feeling sorry for him to despising him very quickly

He was playing a contact sport and **** went very wrong

He sued the people who tried to look after him and now if he farts I have to hear about it via league news

It's time we stopped pretending he was the next big thing, he was never in with a shot at origin, he was a decent first grade bench player, nothing more than a Lewis Brown at manly type player

As much as I think the league itself is a cluster**** they tried to help him and he bit the hands that fed him

I feel sorry for commentators who now have to put up with a nuffy

The suspension is too light and sends a poor message.

I would have thought somewhere between 4 and 6 weeks would have been about the mark.

Can't you just see the mums (who lets face it make the decisions) rushing out to sign their 6 year old little darling up to play a game where you can end up with a shiner like Walker's ?

Participation rates are already down and the NRL don't get out the big stick to show this sort of crap won't be tolerated ? Way to shoot your own game in the foot you idiots. I thought that's why the biff was banned in the first place.

I know little kids league and NRL bear little to no resemblance but do you think mums will make that distinction ? Highly doubt it.

Greensnot should have been on the front foot with the message that punches have no place in the game. Api should have also got more than 1 week because that was a brain dead play as well.

(The above being said, I still enjoyed the punch up.....)
