Has anyone actually heard Madge say he's not interested in the job or is it just from journos?
Listening to him again on bsb this morning he's trotting out the same line.
He won't say at all what he's doing.
Won't comment on Manly or his future.
I'm not convinced it's dead.

The journalist made it sound like a definite top 4 but it seems that Penn was quoted as saying a CONTENDER for a top 4 position. I feel if we finish in the top 8 and play competitive football and look like the Manly of old he will be more than satisfied.
Agreed. Theres a difference between being a contender for a top 4 spot and guaranteed top 4 finish.

Maybe we could generate a new stat by dividing the winning percentage by the true average value of the teams they controlled. I think Des would be a lot higher on that list.

Holy trinity???? More like the big 3 Rex Hunts 🙂

@SeaEagleRock8 did you like that one my friend I didn’t swear but alluded to a swear word with rhyming slang 🙂🙂
Lol, words can carry a lot of meaning beyond what is immediately obvious, and yes we've had this discussion before!
As you know, personally I prefer cock, prick, dick and variations as insults, rather than hearing men using a female term to express disgust, which clearly conveys misogyny.
Also, humans are causing the climate change catastrophe.

Top 4 demands are a bit over the top, I'd settle for top 8 as a minimum .

If this is true coming from Penn, I am thinking of jumping on the Woodsie bandwagon re Penn. Does he have ANY clue about how to run a football club?? I don't think he knows whether he is coming or going. Our squad has many holes and it will take Hasler a few years to build it up again. He's not being realistic...

This reported condition is from the same media that in the last week reported Taylor, Cartwright, Henry, Great Man Tooves and potentially Dessie are going to coach us ...... FMD.... they have no clue and I wouldn't believe that.

I hope so...

Chinese whispers on ST...if the article is not bull**** it still did not say Top 4 demand it said top 4 contender two very different meanings.

Hahaha, yes, it did say 'contending'. I need to work on my comprehension skills. Consider me suitably admonished!!!

I've been thinking about this for a few days.

* I think Hasler was about the only move we had left at this point, but he shouldn't be viewed as an immediate saviour. For me, the jury is still out as to wether des is still the coach he was. The Bulldogs lacked any attacking football but were good at the percentage olays. This MO had proven not to be enough in current NRL. We definantly need an attack based coach to compliment des' structures and defence

* I think there needs to be a recognition from Des (not necessarily an apology) of how things went down all those years ago to make this decision palatable for the entire manly fan base.

* the Penns need to listen to what we need as a club from people who know and commit the expenditure/resources

* the playing group needs to commit and buy into the new vision. Deadwood to be cast aside and targeted recruiting to address weaknesses in our squad.

Don't be too harsh on yourself, seems a few are running with the top 4 contender mistake....Just a self inflicted triple undercut will suffice as @Woodsie would say

The playing group will soon learn that it is Dessie's way or the highway.
