Is DCE on the Rise ?

DCE dropped in popularity at times over past few years, many ppl felt money was better spent elsewhere.
Well it comes down to opinion.
Personally rate him and though he has been questioned in a few games Manly lost....has also won a few in big pressure situations.
To regain the 7 for Australia in a team placed 15th is a massive win.
Particularly with inexperienced halves partners taking little of the pressure and organising, which all basically fell at the feet of DCE.
Though the Manly forwards rated well by punching big numbers with yards made, the platform from quick play the balls was way down there and gave him less time than many other halves....making his effort pretty impressive.
Also see DCE make plenty of important 1 on 1 tackles and at times when looking to be carrying injury, hang into the game even making hit ups for lazy, tired players.
His leadership is still debatable at times, as his voice seems to lack the sting of what is needed to whip a team like this into a more aggressive, powerful state attitude wise....watch other top shelf halves leaders like JT, Cronk or even Lockyer and Johns in times gone by and its a very different level.
Maybe he has that softer nature personality wise, but if he lifted this area, I reckon DCE could go to another level again as his game in general, well Must be high quality as the current Australian halfback.
Another thing I have noticed is the amount of money spent on DCE being thrown out to the public as so over the top as the Million dollar man, but in recent times there has been a heap of players who seem to be on ridiculous money and his price tag though inflated, is not as crazy as originally thought imo.
Hoping DCE plays a Screamer on Saturday and comes back from this mission with the confidence to really lay down the law as leader to his Manly team mates in 2019.

I think our expectations on DCE are too high. If he played in a star-studded team like Easts he'd be recognised for his rare talent.
I fear he feels he has to try to do the impossible when playing for Manly because our backs are so insipid, and at times it looks like he is running around like a chook with its head cut off.

How far off is an appointment as Australia's Test captain? His selection as skipper of the PM's team shows his leadership has some recognition already.
Inglis is hardly a long-term option, even if he gets there at all, so who else is there? Cordner is battling to retain his spot in the NSW team.

I think cordner is one more injury away from retirement.

I think its pretty evident that piece of human excrement aka Scam Smith kept DCE out of state and national squads.

Of course, Thurston/Cronk were always first choice (and rightly so). But there were plenty of utilty spots up for grabs and games when they were injured.

DCE is an excellent player. He does have that occassional game where he tries to take on too much and runs around aimlessly, but I think his poise and control after Origin 3 this year was fantastic.

That game erased any doubts he had and he turned a corner.

Big 2019 coming up for him.

I love the great Dce and sometimes he does overplay his hand , but not through lack of trying. When he had Foran inside him they were the best halves combo in the league anywhere. So put a decent 6 in there and another hard arse forward and dce is the best running kicking half around. Wouldn't swap him for anyone.

Deserves his spot. After his great game in origin 3 he came back to club level full of confidence. Manly didn't win many games but DCE was still playing very well and developed into an organizing half. Hope he smashes it on the weekend
I can only see it being a positive, hopefully both DCE and the Roos play well.
I can see him captaining both the Roos and Qld in the future, should see the best of him for Manly from now on.

And he can competently string a sentence together. Cordner is getting there, but essentially he sounds umm...slow.

Agree 100 no 110%, what I was most impressed with DCE this year was, even in the bleakest of games he was the last man chasing the break. I would prefer him not as captain though, no slight on him but so he can concentrate on his game, and runners around him and leave the gee up and attitude to the rest of the team for someone else to shoulder.
