Mal's been great as the Australian coach. Seems like players know where they stand with him, too, which can't be a bad thing.

None more evident than his no Queensland no NSW edict.
Making it clear that they are Australians only.
Put a few noses out of joint I reckon helping to hasten a few retirements.

Agree 100 no 110%, what I was most impressed with DCE this year was, even in the bleakest of games he was the last man chasing the break. I would prefer him not as captain though, no slight on him but so he can concentrate on his game, and runners around him and leave the gee up and attitude to the rest of the team for someone else to shoulder.

The Chooks had 2 captains. Actually if memory serves Manly did with Lyon / King?

Love to see Jake / DCE share the role.

Actually that would be a great idea and avoids any ill will by DCE thinking he was snubbed. Dual Captains seems to be all the rage across allot of sports as longs as they compliment each other, DCE / Jake if Jake can be vocal could work.

Its only now that DCE has been brought back in that all seems well with the world.

Big Mal hasn't hidden his love for him since late last year...

It’s kind of a refreshing healing experience isn’t it mate. A Queenslander with the balls not to comply with the clique club and select players on what he thinks is best for the team. I really like Big Mal.

I've always chosen to avoid the dce bagging, although I think he nickname sid should stick
He is a champion athlete in all ways and with decent players and coach would thrive. With the roster we have we are good enough to lift the trophy

Its only now that DCE has been brought back in that all seems well with the world.

No doubt the case and he had to manage the balance of the team. Now things have changed it’s a clean slate and Mal is free to choose based on his choice. DCE Captain in PNG and VC in the Trans Tasman, plus selecting Turbo as a centre a perfect example. Shows me what he did had to be done at the time for team harmony and results. And to be honest, timing is great for DCE as he now has a mountain of experience behind him and the backing of the coach.

I can't get over his game in origin 3 last year. To be publicly bagged as severely as he has been, to have people in the media and social media consistently saying you're a **** bloke and that you fail to perform at rep level. And then to come out and admit that this is your one chance to own it or lose it - then to play a flawless game, which slater was gushing over - that was seriously one of the most pressurised situations I have ever seen in sport. He is a champ. He will give this team another premiership before he is done. And he will become a great coach.

All those people thinking Jake should be captain need to be patient. Jake's still a kid. He cries after losses. Which shows his passion, but doesn't mean you are a leader. Leaders check their emotions and those of those around them. Jake will be manly captain one day but he's not ready yet.
