Indigenous V Maori All Stars.. manly players

Considering the wet conditions, I thought it was a very good game, played with plenty of feeling and a quality game for their first of the season.

Walker and Harper played well and hopefully Harper's 'stinger' is no worse than just that.

So good the footy's back!!

When I saw Harper holding his shoulder again, I thought here we go again. But thank goodness, probably just a burner or stinger.

The weather has meant none of the outside backs have had much opportunity to shine, but as soon as Dylan moved to the middle he had a positive impact.
He looked dangerous every time he touched the ball. Then I thought club footy, imagine Tommy making that initial break, then gives it to a rampaging Dylan Walker of his shoulder, then Dylan, shrugging of would be tacklers as he runs down the guts for a runaway try.

Nice to see a preseason rep game that clearly means so much to all involved. If city vs country was played with that much passion it would still be a thing.

Unfortunately City vs Country went the same way as Origin in Aussie rules (which is kinda ironic considering that Origin was originally an Aussie rules thing). Clubs were becoming loathe to let their players, their "investments" play in what was increasingly becoming a nothing game.

City vs Country used to be a state selection trial, especially for fringe players. But when they started having the NSW Origin side picked even before City vs Country was played, it took away the games relevance and it became a bit of a farce where seemingly last man standing got a jumper because the star players were pulling out with mysterious injuries (which usually happened to clear up right after the game was played.

Its a pity. Some of the best games used to be City vs Country.

'State of Origin' label was invented by them, but not the rules of picking players based on where they were from. That was no lightning bolt of invention. FIFA world cup been that way since the 1930s, RU's Home Nations is even older, West Indies cricket team.

Did Easts have any players in the match?

Not much significant info in the NRL Player Stats.

Interesting that only Hynes, Walker, Herbert & Reimis Smith played the full 80 minutes.

Edit: Foxsports has more complete Player Stats

His days in the centres are over imo unless we get bad injury problems. He looks good in the middle though and I’d have him there in the 14. Would also be good to see him doing sone work as a back up 9. I know we have Lawton but Walks offers that pinch in the middle. Always had attack as a three quarter but would often undo it with poor defence or hogging the ball.
Thought Walker had a good shot on D Fafita in the lead up to that try, as Fafita wasn't in full stride when Walker attempted the tackle. That was his only blemish.

In regards to the only tackle that Walker missed of Fifi .
It was pouring rain and hands and leg skin become as slippery as soap

Heavy rain and heavy ground conditions are not favourable for outside back and even the likes of Addo Carr were quite

They had Walker play wing , centre and middle forward through out the match

Harper did not have too many opportunities on the wing

Sporting News ratings .....

3. Dylan Walker - 7/10
Always busy down the left edge. While he didn't have any try scoring chances he was a nightmare for the defence for a lot of the night and provided in defence also.
2. Morgan Harper - 7/10

A typically busy effort from the Manly energiser on the right edge who struck up a dangerous combination with Reimis Smith. Didn't have any try scoring opportunities but had a big impact with his running game.

They didn’t realise walker played in the middle for 60mins?
