I saw glimpses .. of form .. or grasping for ..

Was it just me, or did others see small sparkles of form amongst the debris ?

We Applied some pressure and field position when we held the ball ... looked okay at times

Paseka firing up ..

Keppie and Aloiao went well ..

Cust a keeper ..

Walker starting to look a bit dangerous when he runs ....

Help me out here .. what else ..

Here's the thing mate. Blind Freddy can see Cade Cust is a HUGE step up on Lachlan Croker (and unlike most here, I like Croker, who's playing completely out of position, and getting slammed for it).

The issue is Des Hasler doesn't see that, and I'm telling you, Lachlan Croker will get his start again next week.

Same goes for Sipley versus Boyle. Once again, not in each others league, effort, ability, intensity and effort wise - but was does Des Hasler do? Better bring Boyle straight into the game, play him 80 minutes, out of position. FMD.

I'm sorry, but why would you not have Gosi, Schuster, Jake back there - not great, but at least in position (especially pace of the game wise).

Everyone is going to cheer when Taufua is picked this week, but behind this current backline, he's going to move like the Queen Elizabeth ship in Darling Harbour.

How long does this dunce play Walker out of position? Hated when Trent Barrett did it. Hate it even more now. You NEED your best players, playing their BEST position. We had options with Harper, Koula and Garrick at the back. Even the Chooks are blooding their babies.

I don't get it.

I do think Jake had a better game..
Less playmaker, more hard running.. he actually hit the line and had some leg drive to keep going for the first time in awhile... So there's that..

The way things have panned out Jack Gosiewski gets the first crack.

Walker is a centre plain and simple but why play a player in their natural position, try and.confuse the opposition with these Des curveballs
Everyone forgets last time Des had Walker in the centres .He leaked like a sieve ,was time and time again out of position in the line and was continually running out of the line.
He struggled big time ,but everyone has short memories.

Its just so obvious its becoming laughable..

OUR back line... especially the edges are seriously a joke. the glimpses of "form" you see are from the majority of forwards as our pack at times holds it own.

BUT THE BACKS..... what a disgrace.. Ok we dont have Tommy at fullback so Walks is out of position BUT whilst ever Des keeps burying his head in the sand and picking Garrick, Parker, Suli and Saab as combos on the edges we are F*#c**....
combined that with Foran who is really way past his best and an out of form DCE and we are a joke of a team leaking 40 points per game and 90% of those tries come through our edges... SO ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE mad scientist its obvious to my grandmother who has NO idea..
We are the laughing stock of the comp.. So embarrassing I have to laugh at it myself whilst watching.

Garrick- Is a turnstile.. look up the dictionary for turnstile defender and there will be a pic of Ruben Garrick....arm out going one way , body out of balance going the other way, eyes closed and an attacker pushing past his arm... TRY time.. The guy seriously looks afraid to tackle or contest a ball.

Parker- Look up the dictionary under slow foot work and a pic of mr Parker will be front and centre.. he has heart but seriously no speed or footwork at all, you can see every time the attack comes his way his pedaling in the wrong direction or in super slow mo, the guy knows he lacks the speed and it shows in his game play he has zero confidence in stopping attacking plays. He also needs to be taught how to catch and hold a ball and how to throw a pass and we shouldn't be doing that for him in an NRL side .. So back to park footy my man!

Saab- Ok maybe his young and inexperienced but did anyone tell him that being a footy player meant that you actually had to tackle, not just run with the ball... he has no footy smarts whatsoever, rushing out for no reason, arm grabbing and not using his height at all to his advantage.. His defence or lack of is up there with Garrick and this is why we are leaking so many points.

Suli-- another one that must have been at KFC whilst his junior coaches where talking about how to tackle, I cant recall him hitting hard and low, just grabs at a jersey and as the attacker pushes away he stops in disbelief...WTF... wheres the second effort.

Crocker- Sorry bud but no matter how many injury setbacks you have had not matter how much of a "big" thing you were in your junior days you just don't have it at NRL level, especially at hooker, a position that demands footy smarts, solid defence, crisp passing and a running game.. He has ZERO of those attributes .

In summation whilst Des keeps these 5 guys in our team we will NEVER win a game with them there..
Its that simple and laughable because its there for all to see and why cant we make the necessary changes rather than talking the Bulls#*t.. we have character in this team, we need to hold the ball, we need to talk more, we are one win away from turning this around..blah blah..

Simple solution- Piss those 5 numpties off to Blacktown and let them get the wooden spoon.

Tommy to fullback
Harper and Walker to centre
Funa to one wing and oh how I wish we had that "slow to get back for kick returns winger" Jorgie boy back
Shuster to 5/8, Foz to bench
Cust to hooker.

1- Tommy T
2- Funa
3- Walker
4- Harper
5- Koula/ Tuipulotu..ANYONE other than the dead beats above until Jorge gets back
6- Schuster
7- DCE
8- Paseka
9- Cust
10- Taupau
11- Sironen
12- Olakau'atu
13- Jake T

14- Foran
15- Aloiai
16- Keppie
17- Sipley

18- Gosiewski
19- Saddler
This is the team I want ,Give Whoopi one last chance and replace her Saddler if she doesnt make 100 metres and run hard.

THIS SHOWS HOW LOW WE ARE .
Hitting the line with still having leg drive.
Can't wait until one day we might actually break the line.

Not arguing any of that Ryan ... just saying I saw some glimpses of hope ..

Definitely some glimpses of form in the game, again mostly from Keppie, Cust and Aloiai. How about we start these three "form" players, and simultaneously bench/remove some out of form players.

Keppie starts at eight, Cust starts at nine and Aloiai is given a shot starting at eleven. Turbo isnt back this week so lets at least give Funa one game in a position he actually plays in regularly. Walker back to right centre, with Harper as left centre. Suli back to Blacktown with Parker or Gosiewski. (depending on who your bench backrower is)

Based on Penn's comments the halves wont be changing anytime soon, and I think the wingers should be given another shot with different centres inside them. I would be interested to see how Saab/Walker/Aloiai works out on the right as a defensive unit. Leaves us Garrick/Harper/Schuster on the left. (not ideal I know BUT our depth is crap due to injuries and other issues)

We are stuck with Croker on the bench unfortunately. The other bench players are out of form (except Sipley obviously) and if not for injuries they wouldn't be there..........

1. Tevita Funa

2. Jason Saab

3. Dylan Walker

4. Morgan Harper

5. Reuben Garrick

6. Kieran Foran

7. Daly Cherry-Evans

8. Sean Keppie

9. Cade Cust

10. Taniela Paseka

11. Josh Aloiai

12. Josh Schuster

13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Lachlan Croker

15. Toafofoa Sipley

16. Martin Taupau

17. Jack Gosiewski/Brad Parker

Looks better (I would also consider moving Taupau to an edge too)

1. Harper
2. Saab
3. Funa (Left)
4. Walker (Right)
5. Garrick
6. Schuster
7. Foran
8. Paseka
9. Cherry-Evans (Could play him back into form)
10. Keppie
11. Aloiai (right)
12. Taupau (left) (If Trex could do it, Marty may still have it in him - maybe we can get more value from him here)
13. Trbojevic
14. Cust
15. Sipley
16. Suli / Parker (Short stint in backrow)
17. Saddler (Exemption due to forwards injury toll)
