How long can Des live on his Manly Legacy?

So Manly beat them 36-0 and Penrith beat them 38-0.

This will become their worst season for a very long time.

They will finish bottom 3 most likely.

I can't see them turning the season around. In My opinion they have a terrible roster, the attitude of some of the players seems to be worse

He's an excellent coach, but their squad this year is horrible. No playmakers.

Watching him in the coaches box yesterday, my initial thoughts were he was just comfy as a coach. The mean winning desire just seemed to not be with des anymore. he lost the eye of the tiger

Still on the Bulldogs and the fans are also fuming - and there is more to it than just the embarrassing thrashing by the Panthers yesterday.

The club had advertised a ‘meet and greet’ night with Hasler and the players after the game - and fans wanted to vent their anger.

The players all fronted to face the music from their supporters - but Hasler was nowhere to be seen in what many fans saw as a slap in the face from their head coach.

IF that is true as a player I would be absolutely filthy at Des.
Having to put up with those backward mongrel Dogs Fans and the coach does a runner.
The players effort is at fault but equally to blame the gameplan and recruitment/retention

On Channel Nine’s coverage on Sunday, Peter Sterling was asked about Hasler. The great half, regarded as one of the most respected minds in rugby league, said that Hasler had been a great coach but just as importantly, Sterling said Des had had plenty of great players at his disposal over the journey.

The Bulldogs need a fresh start.

Whether that means Hasler’s demise is anyone’s guess, because it almost certainly won’t be Dib’s.

The people who may have questioned Barrett are entitled to their views and rightly so after the crap the team served up last year and the first few games this year. However, many (including me) are starting to change our opinions about Barrett as the team wins a few games and is starting to play a nice style of footy. I am very, very happy to be wrong. However, a few wins doesn't make him a genius or a great coach who will win us our next premiership. At the moment his results are at best OK but improving. I hope you are right and he is the messiah and not just a very naughty boy. Let's just wait and see but please cut out trying to put people on Silvertails in different camps. We all bleed maroon and white some of us just express our frustration after losses in a different way to you.

Threads like this really annoy me... I rated toovey as a sucessful Manly coach... He got us to 1 game from a gf his first year, he made a gf and he coached us to equal first... To me, thats a bloody good effort...

Des has gotten the dogs to 2 grandfinals, and a top 8 finish every year since he took over at the dogs.. THAT is a sucessful coach in my book.. Sure, a win in the grandfinal would be great, but the fact they play finals footy every year and made 2 gfs in his 5 years there makes him a success overall... Just having a dud year...

If Manly make the top 4 this year, every single poster on this site would rate this season a success and heap praise on barrett, and rightfully so.. But to say des is a failure, or hasnt been a success at the dogs is absolutely moronic..

And if saying success 100 times in a post was my goal, then this would be a success..

I tried to tell people like you that he deserved a fair go but got of the forum because I couldn't be bothered with the abusive Barrett haters . You put yourself in a camp claiming that Barrett was a dud and the other camp were the fair go camp. Short memory ?
