Ben 'Burbo' Trbojevic

Burbo doesn't generate much in attack, his weapon is running the holes.

Centres need to be able to beat their man.

Prefer someone who can also concoct something in attack

Having watched him this season I thought he played his best games at right centre, he has similarities to Jack Howarth from the Storm, both played centre / backrow in their early careers, the Storm signed Howard’s on 500K a season for 5 years in 2023.

They tried him on the edge before Bellamy gave him the opportunity at left centre where he has played very well this season, Howarth and Ben are the same height and weight along with similar story lines on where they have played.

Would like to see Ben get a run at right centre for a few games as fatigue playing in the backrow was an issue for him.

He definitely looked decent there when he played though I’d rather find a spot for talau and koula and move Garrick to wing than try and find a backline spot for burbo at this stage.

Have you noticed how differently our three matches have been refereed?
We got "all" the penalties and six-agains against the "boys in round one and tonight against Canberra.
Yet in our second match it was the opposite. We were whistled out of it.
What is the constant? A: Refs favour home teams.
To my eyes, which are unashamedly maroon and white, the refs have played a huge part in our three results.
Admittedly, the 'Boys were terrible and were unlikely to beat us regardless of the ref.
Tonight, you must admit we got most of the calls. We could have been trailing six-nil after 20 minutes, and given an even possession Canberra looked capable of beating us. I thought their forwards were holding their own, despite our glut of possession. Then Big Red was marched and the floodgates opened.
I'm delighted that we are winning at Brookie but I can't help feeling that the NRL has encouraging the refs to give the home 'sausage eaters' what they want. It's the best way to ensure booming home crowds. It explains why results are fluctuating more this season than what they should be.

Definitely got the rub of the green today, though Horse deserved to be binned that was a professional foul on Tevega.

Ricky brought up in his conference that the play the ball speeds were similar for both teams and he said the six against were six to one our way, I don’t like the six again calls and Gee certainly pinged Manly last week with the Warriors getting the rub of the green.

I was thinking the same. As far as things were going our way, a lot. I just kept thinking Atkins is going to hammer us in the 2nd half and we’ll have to relive last years shiit show. When he blew the first one early in the second half I was thinking "here we farking go". But then it didn’t. I slowing came out of my fetal position, and Garrick was still scoring tries for fun, Ola was still trampling Raiders’, and DCE was still giving Weekes nightmares.
As for the home ground thing, it is worth taking note. Also of note will be whether Gee continues on his 6again-athon.

The six again rule is a joke!! You are at the mercy of the referee.

We got smashed by Gee in round 2, 11-2 6 again calls against us, this the same referee who in the 2023 grand final awarded a solitary 6 again in the whole game.

It's a frustrating rule, makes the game even faster...

Let the players decide the game!!

I agree there is definitely bias toward the home team but raiders are clearly coached to test the refs early & deliberately give set restarts. Sure it was at our ground but I’m happy they got pinged for it
I lost count of the times they pulled down the shorts of our players whilst making a tackle. All unnecessary and just to slow down the play the ball. They were never square all game

I keep banging on about how much I hate 6-agains… it is the subjective nature of them that does my head in because they cannot be challenged and tend to be compounding… ie. once the ref awards one for ruck infringement then the ref’s tolerance for minor ruck infringements becomes negligible and the fact that players become gassed means you can have 4 or 5 in a row… you may as well just award the non-penalised team 4 points and be done with it…

The fact that you have 15,000 people screaming at you does not help you stay objective and compounds the issue…

If we HAVE to have 6-agains then I think the 3rd consecutive one awarded should be a full penalty with a warning… this would at least allow the team on the hook to get a break in play and possibly reduce the impact to 2pts… let’s face it, by the time you get to to 18 tackles there is no argument that a team has received a benefit from the infringements so the break in play would just act as a circuit breaker (ie. I don’t see teams intentionally giving away consecutive 6-agains just to get to the penalty as it is a risky play)

I would also like to see 5min sinbins introduced for minor infractions like Horsbrough’s ruck infringement (which did not CLEARLY stop a try)

Loathe to bump a thread with such a title, would much prefer 'Ben Trbojevic' thread but I wanted to give him a shout as people are do quick to jump on him because of his surname.

Missed 6 tackles round one, most when moved out to the centres but last two games 51 tackles with 0 misses.

Good effort

Also against the Raiders, 158m, 72 of those post contact and 3 tackle busts.

A couple of the whipping boys were good today. You could not fault he or Aloia.

For future reference @Disco

I hate some of these disrespectful thread titles also and would prefer to let them die on the vine…

Any chance you could amend the thread title to include (Burbo) @Kiwi Eagle ? That way it will come up in a search thread (‘Ben’ is too short to search for and ‘Trbojevic’ is a minefield 😜)
