I wonder how Cherry would react to being fronted by his captain on the field after he runs up out of the line in defense or stuffs up an attacking play? Not well I suspect.

He’s been very self-critical (and rightfully so) in the last few weeks and looks completely shot for confidence.

Weirdly enough though I still think this would be a real shock to the system for him. I think he needs that. I can imagine him performing better as a result, and trying to learn what true leadership is - leading by example (not by talk in the middle of team hurdles)

Yeah I feel like he’s the worst person to have as captain at times. They can see through him.

Having someone else tell him what he's supposed to do on the field may be just what he needs. Take the pressure off him. Unfortunately though, regardless of who is captain. Chez is still the halfback so the pressure is still on him. A number of members have suggested he be moved to hooker but I think he'd be much better at center. He's a natural runner and used to be a very solid defender. Add a few opportunistic kicks and a willingness to back up the man with the ball (which Chez still shows) and you've got a good center. By the time the ball got to him in the centers the momentum and direction of play would already be set and he could just go with it.

Not sure Jake is the answer, Jake needs to focus on his own form.

I would go Foran, inspirational player and a stop gap measure until someone demands it.

It should spark them many off contract looking for a new gig.

looking at foran's recent record, making him captain and jake v.c. would mean jake will be captain more often than not

Jakes too emotive imo. He was giving that impassioned speech in the sheds at half time which was great to see. Then they score in the second half and he’s back in the in goal doing it all again. Need to be careful with that approach or guys will be like “Jakes at it again......” loses its affect.
