Great night in Perth

[WAMF]

A sensational comeback by the boys when most teams would have just accepted their fate and lay down. I thought the win showed real character.

It was good to catch up with the many familiar faces of the MWTS and others that made the long journey to WA. Lucky for you that you should have healthy tail winds heading home and the flight can often take just 3 - 3.5 hrs.
Equally good to catch up with some of the WA based Sea Eagle fans.

I also wanted to give the club praise for a very well organised post match function.
There was plenty of food being brought around and the venue was a generous size, so even though there were quite a few people at the function, it wasn't too crowded.

The players were very accessible as were the coaching staff. Had a good chat to Dave Penna.
Towards the end of the function I finally got to meet the lovely Larissa.

I will again cross my fingers that Manly bring a game to Perth next year, like I've done for the last 10 years, but if they don't, I couldn't have asked for a better night or a better result.

Have to say Perth exceeded my expectations, lovely place will have to head back in Summer with the girl, thanks for the tip on the fish and chips @ ciccerellos Freemantle Wamf was top stuff. Infact Freemantle in general is great felt so relaxed spending the day there (the little creatures brewery may or may not had it's hand in the relaxing LOL). I Need to spend a week there and hit up Margaret River.

As for the Football side, another heart stopper last interstate trip up in Brisbane was also another last minute win got to love it when it happens but talk about stressful! Great to see and meet so many perth manly fans and also catching up with the MWTS tragics. Great function loved the live music as well.

A note on the warriors Perth fans, they were so gracious in defeat, had a chat to a few of them @ the irish pub at the casino after the match and they were all just happy to have an NRL game there they could watch. Had similar chats with a few @ the ground and at our hotel breakfast sunday morning. The sooner the NRL get a team in WA the better, they are primed for it and will get great support from all local League fans.

NRL Sea Eagles: Manly's $400,000 windfall

The Sea Eagles were winners on and off the field against the Warriors in Perth
THE Sea Eagles are set to reap a $400,000 bonanza from moving last Saturday's NRL game against the Warriors to Perth.

While a lot of fans were unhappy about the decision to move a home game away from Brookvale, the Manly Daily understands it produced a financial windfall four times greater than would have been chieved if the game was played on the peninsula.

Sea Eagles COO David Perry would not disclose the exact figures involved yesterday.

``The game met all commercial expectations,'' Perry said.

``You have to take risks in the environment we are currently in and going to Perth was a risk. If we lost the match unfortunately possibly I would have got blamed for it.''

But Perry said that he had a responsibility to maximise all of the commercial opportunities.

``I made that decision with the support of the coaching staff, understanding that wasn't their first priority.''

Perry said the squad members were fantastic ambassadors during the trip, engaging in hospital visits and coaching clinics. And Perry had a simple message for the Sea Eagles fanbase with two home games left before the play-offs.

``It's coming to the critical time of the year where we really need all our supporters and members to turn up and we need momentum heading into the finals,'' Perry said. ``We are winning close games, which is important, but not playing at our best.

``We are hoping to reach the point pretty soon when we are peaking.''

Meanwhile, backrower Anthony Watmough will appear before the judiciary tonight to dispute the grading of a dangerous contact charge after an alleged ``chicken wing'' tackle in the Warriors game.
