This idea is unbearable! Been there got the Tshirt and remember who bailed out the ex Norths players who were not paid by their club? Then that club blamed their demise on our club!! I would like to think that we either survive under our own steam as we have for the majority of the last 70 odd years or disappear.

The NRL keep fuelling this by showing no vision or leadership and allowing parties with agendas to spread idle gossip about the future of the game. The AFL protect their heritage! The Swans and the Lions have not abandoned their supporters in their traditional heartland. We could learn so much from them!!

We've just inherited a beagle as a pet. I think it is a sign. Northern Eagles redux it is, then. Seriously Gosford Stadium is a great ground. A few games their could be okay.

We're onto our second beagle. Best dogs - though zillions would disagree!

Its really not as bad an idea as people think. The NRL has stated that no team will be relocated unless they are suffering financially. There is only 1 team north of the bridge so there is no way in hell the NRL would ever relocate manly however if there ever came a time where we are struggling then the idea of expanding the sea eagles to include manly and the central coast would make perfect sense. The NRL are looking to "expand" and losing manly and the entire region would just be ludicrous and would never happen.

Dont think theres enough first grade standard players too add more teams. The talent will be further spread out and we would have more teams playing like the titans each week.

What we're missing here is there will be a 2nd Brisbane team whether we like it or not and will be at the sacrifice of a Sydney team. Titans are safe due to the NRL's invested commitment and Nine would want to capture that audience, Cronulla and Manly are the vulnerable ones and the Sharks have already organised their financial situation with the development at Shark Park and have a much larger membership base than we do. Makes me wonder if the players we sign on long term deals are going to factor this in.

Relocating a Sydney team to Brisbane is never going to work.
The reason is because the only supporters they will have are the die hard Sydney Supporters (i.e. Cronulla or Manly) who will rarely attend and the Sydney Team supporters living in Brisbane (ie Cronulla or Manly). Everyone else will still support the Donkeys or their other favorite Sydney team. They need a new team.

The last time we had a 20 team competition, we were PREMIERS - 1996
Des would thrive on a diluted talent pool, whereas, other coaches that rely on having half a state of origin team in their squad will fail.
Just need to think who it is run.
For mine, I would have an 18 team comp, play each other once in round 1 (i.e. 17 games)
Then have a buy
Then divide the comp up into two in odds and evens on the ladder (i.e. One group is 1,3,5,7 etc and the other group is 2,4,6,8 etc) and play each in your group once (ie 8 games)
Then you have a 25 game comp, and a more fair drawer as the second round is determined at the end of round 1
Bring on expansion!

lolol..........Norths disappeared, the Northern Eagles disappeared.....if Manly were to be axed i would not watch another game of rugby league. I'd join the AFL bandwagon 1000%.There aren't enough 1st grade quality players as it is. Adding or axing teams would alienate so many loyal supporters. NRL is on a downward spiral no matter what anyone says. Everyone can see it! Sadly it will continue to do so whilst Greenberg & that moron Beattie are around. People may say that only 13,000 members would give the NRL away...i believe there are many more supporters who prefer to watch the games on TV who would be lost also. The only expansion i'd be happy with is to axe Greenberg, Beattie, A Johns, Lockyer, Fittler, Anasta & replace with new faces! I'm not sure which of those names mentioned I despise the most!

I wouldn't have a problem with us re-branding as the Northern Sea Eagles and claiming North Sydney out to Blacktown and up to Budgewoi as our own.

In fact, for the long term future of this club im not sure why we haven't already done it?

but I have always liked the idea of relegation and promotion too .... that would require a strong other division that could see the desired expansion come into fruition

That's a good point, because the model they talk about in the article where the vfl moved teams to Sydney and Brisbane and were a success there was no existing team to compete with in the area. Notice they didn't move a second team to Sydney, they started a new one, and in a second stadium in the west.
