Media Narrative Around Manly

While journos ragging on Manly is annoying, it is somewhat expected.

What is really getting me at the moment is ex players with a radio show or podcast laying the boot in. Seems like any ex player who was not smart enough to set themselves up after football, or to get into coaching, now has access to a microphone in one form or another. And I find they are the ones dribbling a lot of the bs. The same people who cried foul when a negative story impacted them in their playing days. The hypocrisy is astounding.
An excerpt of a podcast came across my FB feed the other day of Josh Mansour and Chad Townsend Bagging the club about the handling of Turbos negotiations. Neither have ever had anything to do with the club so anything they say is pure speculation.
Yeah heard those two talking a complete load of sh*t about things they know nothing about. You expect this dribble from journos, but it's even more disgusting coming from former players

For years I've read on this website about how Tom needs to move to centre and he's a waste of money etc etc and too injury prone etc etc

Now hes pushing 30 and if he suddenly leaves it's the end of the world ??.

Spare me.

Its a media narrative that this becomes crisis - If he stays great, if not we move on. We all know he's not half the player he was so at $1 million a season we'd be mad to over pay for him in panic.

He wanted to hand money back last contract and now he wants to leave ??

I'm not buying it.

I find it amusing that Silvertailians can be so concerned about an alleged negative reporting bias in the media .....

Yet, spend their time on here, reading post after post by the same numbnuts ... constantly bagging the **** out of the Club, the CEO, the Coach, the recruitment and retention team, and every single player ....

The media is way more balanced and less feral than some on here ...

Silvertailians ..... haha .... you make us sound so civilised.

Hope everyone's happy with paying approx $2.2mil for the next 2 years. Want to hope we get more than the last 2 seasons worth.

Yeah I had the exact same reaction.

Just to clarify it would suck to lose Reuben but it wouldn't be the end of the world and as such, I don't think we should entertain the idea of paying overs - if that's the situation. I heard the numbers $1M over 2 years mentioned which seems reasonable.

Garrick's a great clubman who's better than average but he's not a generational spine player, we have Faulolo and Willett coming through who are more than serviceable given the opportunities. I'd sooner take a punt on Koula with Garrick's money given his actual demonstrated abilities, his late season form was game breaking and it's becoming consistent.
Fualalo is a reserve grader. A good one, but not an NRL player's ring hole.

Adding this edit since this post is getting some disagrees:

The guy is 26, has been at three clubs, and has only made it to the fringe of first grade.

He has some speed, and has a red hot go, but has been outclassed and even ragdolled quite a few times when he has been given a shot in First Grade.

Depth at best.
