Two very impressive salary cap machinations by the Dogs. Ditched Oloapu and Sutton (both on big money) yet still can still sign stars like Crichton, Galvin, Leo Thomson...

...Karl Oloapu. The 20-year-old was released from his contract with the Bulldogs after suffering a career-threatening neck injury.
Oloapu moved home to live with his family in Redcliffe and just over a month ago returned to the field via Brisbane’s A-grade competition.

...But the most overpaid of all would have to be 30-year-old forward Ryan Sutton.
Sutton was brought to the Bulldogs in 2023 on a three-year $600,000 a season deal and managed just 13 games, the last of which came that season.
It was such a disaster that the Bulldogs actually paid out the final year of his deal this year to free up a roster spot, a spot eventually taken by Lachlan Galvin.

And some folks think it doesn't take $$$$$ to win comps.

Darren Lockyer has confirmed to Love Rugby League that he has ‘committed’ to a purchase agreement to buy a majority stake in London Broncos.

Lockyer, speaking in England on Wednesday before flying home to Australia, has admitted that a deal is done with him and his business partner, Grant Wechsel, to take up a 90 per cent stake in the Broncos. Gary Hetherington will take on the remainder of the stake in the club moving forward and head up day-to-day operations.

Just come across this, couple of club legends in there…..like the jersey too

Speaking of Supercars (which we weren’t, but just watching it until the footy starts) do you reckon the people who now run this sport have any idea how boring it now is? Used to love the old Fords v Holdens Group A, C etc, and appreciate the industry has now changed, but the sport is now almost unwatchable. They seem to think that people are fans of specific race teams (Pertek racing or whatever) which I think is a flawed assumption. You may as well be asking which mobile advertising billboard do you follow? And I certainly don’t care if a Camaro is leading a mustang. Rant over.

Edit. Forgot to add. The quest to make the sport as boring as possible also seems to extend to race track designers, who seem determined to avoid creating any possibility of close, interesting racing. The track today has zero interesting features, unless you love sweeping curves and straight lines. If today’s cars were racing on the old Amaroo it would probably make it somewhat interesting. I suspect the only reason the sport is surviving is because of Bathurst, which is a unique track that actually creates drama.
