Two very impressive salary cap machinations by the Dogs. Ditched Oloapu and Sutton (both on big money) yet still can still sign stars like Crichton, Galvin, Leo Thomson...
...Karl Oloapu. The 20-year-old was released from his contract with the Bulldogs after suffering a career-threatening neck injury.
Oloapu moved home to live with his family in Redcliffe and just over a month ago returned to the field via Brisbane’s A-grade competition.
Brutal fallout from Ivan move; forgotten prodigy’s quiet bid for NRL return — Ressies Wrap
...But the most overpaid of all would have to be 30-year-old forward Ryan Sutton.
Sutton was brought to the Bulldogs in 2023 on a three-year $600,000 a season deal and managed just 13 games, the last of which came that season.
It was such a disaster that the Bulldogs actually paid out the final year of his deal this year to free up a roster spot, a spot eventually taken by Lachlan Galvin.
