General NRL chat

The Warriors have sent shockwaves through the NRL with the announcement their captain Tohu Harris has been medically retired.

Harris said he cannot play on after off-season surgery failed to fix a debilitating wrist injury which restricted him to 14 games in 2024 and ended his season.

I wouldn't say cut short, he's nearly 34 and racked up over 230 NRL games.
I do agree he's a top shelf player, has been hampered by leg injuries for years yet still played well. Big loss for wahs.

Linking Albanese and High Performance is the definition of an oxymoron.

Must be an election coming up! 🤔😂

The Dragons have agreed to release disgruntled prop Francis Molo from his contract effective immediately, following his dispute with a staff member provided he pays a six-figure sum.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported Dragons directors discussed Molo’s situation at the club’s monthly board meeting on Tuesday morning and ultimately deciding to grant his release request with a series of conditions.

Sources close to the negotiations who spoke on the condition of anonymity told The Herald that Molo will be required to repay a six-figure sum.

The Dragons are trying to set a precedent that players will not be able to walk out on their contracts without consequences.

Interesting. I'm no fan of Molo but can't help wondering what the club staff member did, because depending what they did he may be well within his rights to be keeping away until the situation was appropriately resolved.
Which is only to say, yep, disgruntled players can put clubs over a barrel, but just as common, a club can put a player over a barrel.
