WOW at 60 still lacing up the boots for a run about.

Former Rothmans Medal winner Ewan McGrady has made a rugby league comeback – at 60.
McGrady won the game’s most prestigious award way back in 1991 as a halfback at the Bulldogs, the night he needed a police escort to get to the medal presentation when it became clear midway through the evening that he had a chance of winning.

On Saturday McGrady made his comeback for his home town of Toomelah, population 250, in an indigenous knockout competition in Lismore.

McGrady’s cousin, country football pundit Troy Adams, says he is still a crowd favourite.

“They were a couple of players short so Ewan jumped in,” Adams said.

“He loves playing with his nephews and it is still a big thing for him to represent his community.”

McGrady came off the bench to play at halfback.

The kick-and-chase plays and the electrifying speed are obviously not there these days.

Not when you’re 33 years into retirement.

“But he still knows his way around a football field,” Adams said, “He’ll never lose it.

“He steered them around beautifully and loved every moment of it.

“And the fans love it. Everyone up his way still worships him.”

Ewan’s team won the grand final on Sunday against Casino. His nephew, Lindon McGrady, kicked the winning penalty goal in extra time.

I’ll Never forget when he came back from Sydney and played for the Moree Boars in a GF over at Tamworth.

Wests ( Tamworth ) were morals to win and led at half time something like 32-12.

After half time Moree put on a massive stink on to try and unsettle them , being a GF no one got sent off.

And rattle them it did , however with 10 minutes to go Moree were still behind 38-18 , we were gone for all money UNTIL McGrady finally decided to have a crack, and in the space of 8 minutes scored 4 individual try’s ( all converted ) , West Tamworth were shell shocked.

The Moree side won that game 42-38.

And in an interesting side line just last weekend the Moree Boars won their first group 4 GF since that one , 21 years ago.

There's a massive bloodline out there, a McGrady playing for Valleys up here lost the GF to the @maxta Potato Pickers. Goondiwindi used to be the McGrady team but they chop and change a bit.

Yeh mate - Corey Mcgrady I believe.
I was speaking to a leading player manager who rated him as 1 of those big potential player's, simply not committed to the disciplines of NRL and content with playing park footy

What a great Ozzie team to take to PNG.

It's a new age purpose built side for this 6 again footy thing. Only one big bopper in Lucas. Everyone else is all about speed and mobility.

Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans will finally tie the knot next month with his long time partner Vessa Rockliff after 16-years as partners. The couple have three children together.

Their nuptials are set for the end of November at Manly Pavilion with an after-party set for Blacket’s Bar at Hotel Steyne.

We will also see Toafofoa Sipley and his partner Nancy along with Lachlan Croker and his partner Abbey get married this off season as well.

Probably after this, I'd take 16 years too...

Love the comment: "I'll bet she's nervous on their wedding day. Big chance he'll do a a backflip and leave her at the altar" lol

Surprised there's no mention of Jake marrying Alix Waddell in December (as I understand it).

Thanks for that @rj90 and congrats to all the loved up couples.
