I don't get the big drama about the rabbits trying to get Latrell to serve his one game suspension this weekend, being a meaningless game for them, so he can play game one next year. It's not like they're playing in Vegas, so why all this fuss over one game?

Because it is not punishing him or Souths.
He wouldn't have played in this last match anyway, which was officially stated by the Souths coach a couple of weeks ago. Thus, Souths have avoided the one match penalty by declaring Latrine fit.
It is clever from Souths but dumb of the NRL to impose such an ambiguous penalty. They should have stipulated Latrine serve the penalty in the 2025 season, when fit.

I dont get why there is a distinction between on field and off field offences. Seems like an unnecessary can of worms to open.

Trells suspension is for bringing the game into disrepute. Why on earth they want to dig their heels in and ensure that this remains in the headlines all off-season is beyond me.

I'd prefer they didn't suspend $80k of his fine and didn't bother with a token 1 game suspension which is clearly just about optics and not actually punishing Trell.

Just out of curiosity ... in the history of rugby league and life on earth, has there ever before been a player told they can't be suspended while injured?

Not to my knowledge. I'd also like to know what happens if a suspended player gets injured at training or in the shower? Do they pause the suspension till 8/10 independent doctors deem them fit? It all seems unnecessarily complicated.

Can the donkeys afford RCG? They were suppose to have significant cap pressure. Who have they released so far in the forwards Hetherington?

You'd have to think either Cobbo or or their other centre is off to the Roosters if they have cash for RCG.

Marty,Oates and Sailor are out as well, but yeah don't imagine that they would've been on much coin. Two backs though I know.
