Galvin

The interesting part will be if he’s released this year.Parra still have Brown and he’s not likely to leave to go to Newcastle unless it’s the pro rata value of his future contract and can’t imagine the Knights being able to afford that. And if he goes to the Dogs, does he fit into their successful system or does it risk all their good work?

Galvin to Eels, Brown to Knights and Kai Pearce-Paul to Tigers would be the likely pre-30 June deal
That’s all well and good in theory, but unless Brown and KPP are getting more $$ than their current deal, whats the point.Brown is on very good $$ at Parra now and Galvin’s deal at the Tigers is peanuts.

Sure looks that way........................or will there be a bidding war with Doesntmatta?
Sounds like the deal is done, good question though, could be Parra as the original talk was Parra, wonder what number he’ll wear? if he wants to keep playing 6 with both Burton and Brown, if it was Parra, they could move Brown back into the centres as he was always a better running outside back for mine verses his time in the halves and as his out of there anyway, so play him where you will for the better of the side, if he is off to the dogs, where does he fit in? I can’t see them shifting Burton, Critter and Bronson are solid three quarters, in any case, don’t see Galvin as a 7, don’t see Burton in a switch because his not a 7 either, plus, where would that leave Sexton? Will be interesting to see what pans out.

Whoever signs him must do so for market value. None of this he wants to win a Premier BS. The Tigers offered him 6.5 million for six years, an amount that must be reflected in his new clubs salary if the NRL serious. I'm sick of the double standards we see between the big clubs and the rest.

Yep, will be interesting to see how this plays out.
So he knocked back that huge offer from the Tigers and said don't bother l'm outta here but hadn't spoken to any other clubs.

Reason given is not about $$$ but development, again supposedly not spoken to other clubs.
Neither of coaches of the two clubs being mentioned have any more runs on the board than Benji....yet it's not about $$$.

Wherever he goes, he's getting a massive pay rise but nowhere near the Tigers offer.

He has to get near the Tigers offer according to the NRLs own market value rule.

That's not market value though, that's just a desperate side throwing everything at him.
He's not worth that to any other team.

No, it doesn't work that way. The Tigers are part of the market. That is what they were prepared to offer him. Where does it say if only one club offers big money it won't be considered in determining a players market value?

I don't know the rules, I openly admit.
How does restriction of trade work though?.
I'd rather take $800k to play for Melbourne than $1M for a cellar dweller.

The Bullldogs got rid of Tevita Pangia Junior very quickly when it suited them. If I remember correctly he suddenly walked away from a substantial contract to be a professional boxer and now he's back playing league for Catalans in France. Call me a cynic but im sure the dogs will find some way to fit galvin in.

Galvin is on a contract of around $350k, contracts are paid from November to November, so that means Tigers have already paid around half of his contract for this year and Galvin's new club is only liable for the remainder under the terms of the salary cap, unless they've made an agreement with Galvin for an upgrade if he is released early, and even this can be backended into his new contract.

You got a link to that rule?
It's been common knowledge for a while now. Remember Glen Stewart? I did a quick google search and this popped straight up.

  • Fair Market Value Assessment:
When a player's contract is reviewed, the NRL, or an independent auditor, will assess the player's value based on factors like experience, performance, and overall market demand, according to the NRL's website.

The above works for all teams except the Roosters & Broncos.

Still doesn't mean anything in regards to Galvin.
He's on sweet FA at the moment.

Edit: and Stewart has been gone 10yrs, a lot has changed
