Galvin

Galvin is a good footballer, he would be a welcome addition to any of the other sixteen clubs, I don’t think he would fix the positions that are the cause of the current teams problems here.

Need a front rower with some mongrel, a Lenui prototype would work well, a couple of young forwards that are capable of growing their games and making the most of those opportunities, have some faith that Zaidas Muagututia will solve the hooker problem.

I don’t know if Onitoni is a genuine six, watching him play and with his running speed he would make a very good fullback, the club have a good one here and he should be a genuine priority for the club.
I agree that he wouldn’t fix the pack but a generational player in the halves trumps all. If he were to sign, there’s no saying we’ll have Seibold or this current pack throughout his peak years. There’ll be a changing of the guard at some point so a bird in the hand is better than two in the woods.

If a guy like Galvin comes onto the market and you can snare him, you snare him and worry about the rest later. Passing on the Galvin opportunity, to build a pack that could potentially be led around the park by a mediocre half, is putting the cart before the horse (loving the idioms in this post).

100%. A few years ago the excuse was not to upset the players and let them do what they want because the Wallabies would poach them. All bull****. These player managers need to be put back in their box. If a player pulls the homesick card or is busted talking to another club with more than 6 months left under contract or before RD 12 in the season then boot him straight to reggies until contract over with immediate cap relief to the club for that players value. Not really sure any of that would work but in theory maybe something along those lines could. Heavy fines and points deductions too for clubs.
Is this what the Knights are doing with Hastings or is he genuinely injured? He’s an expensive reserve grader.

While I’d be happy to get Galvin in our team as we are currently just relying on our youngsters to be as good as we hope in a few years and it’d be a bit of security in the halves, I reckon he’d be after insane money for his age. If we were to sign him, surely we’d have to give up those hopes of having any cap space available to sign the gun forward we so desperately need. If we want to throw all of our cash at Galvin who tbh has potential but atm is not worth 1million+, I guess it is alright but do we really want to do what we’ve been complaining about with DCE and the Turbo’s in regards to throwing a chunk of our cap into 1 player?

Every club throws a chunk at a few players,it all depends on who those players are.Jake was not the right player,Tom has been unlucky with injuries but when he plays he’s worth every cent and whilst DCE has been great,he has not been the type of player that’ll lead the team around the park and inspire them to success. As for Galvin,he’s going to be a terrific player and by the time he’s officially on the market,Tom and Jake’s contracts will be significantly reduced

He is a great young player but I just can’t see how he fits in our plans. With Brooks and Fogarty here for the next 2 years it’s safe to say we aren’t after him. There is no way he would change clubs to play lock either.
Looks like he is Parramatta bound with the spot freed up from Brown.
Also I would hate for us to spend that amount on him after we have just got out for a salary cap pickle.

One minute: Club has to rid itself of the Isaac Moses
Next minute: Oh here's another Moses client, come play with us!

One minute: How dare our star player treat the club so badly. NEVER AGAIN!
Next minute: Well done trashing the Tigers. Come over to us!

One minute: Fogarty is a great buy to cover with Brooks until our future superstars are ready
Next minute: Let's blow up our future superstars plan and bring in another possible future superstar!

You lot are bonkers

Galvin to Manly talk is madness.

If we had a bunch of exciting forwards knocking down the door coming from our juniors, then fair enough. But we need to learn from past mistakes, and not try to emulate what might work for another club with different strengths.

We must look at what we have, and tailor our recruitment accordingly. Much needed cap space should be allocated to hooker, prop, lock, and edge forward. Clearly we have issues with the tough stuff through the middle. We need a pack of forwards who are fit, mobile, maintain line speed, aggression, swarm in the tackle, scramble, re-set, fight over every play, and repeat.

Guys like Brooks, Fogarty, even a Humphreys, or young talent appropriately scouted, can steer a well-oiled machine. A team like this may struggle on GF day, but will actually have the ability to get there consistently.

You forgot....

One minute: All we do is sign tigers players, we're tigers 2.0
Next minute: Quick! Let's sign tigers player Galvin.

lulz.

What’s concerning is just about everyone on this forum called this in the offseason. We lacked mobility and speed in the middle and had very limited second row stocks. But somehow the coaching staff don’t see it. Instead they pick guys like Tevaga, Brown, and Sipley to amplify the problem.

Either you’re guessing or you’ve carefully cross-referenced posts from this thread against what the same posters said about DCE, our club, Fogerty, Walsh and Large, in other threads. The former undermines any credibility that ‘you lot’ are bonkers, and the latter says you’re bonkers!

Fu<k imagine……2026/2027
Lehi
Saab
Garrick
Koula
Navren Willett
Lachlan Galvin
Joey Walsh
Paseka
Zaidas Muagututia
D’Jazirhae ‘Mia’ Pua’avase
Olakau’atu
Tommy Talau
Navale
Res: Onitoni Large, Bully, Chris Patolo, Simione Laiafi
2026/2027 is early to be throwing the Trbojevic's out completely, and that's a lot on inexperience in the spine from next year. That team is getting flogged. Jake can still be a prop, and worse case scenario Tubro at centre would **** on Garrick.

Spine surely looks better...
1. Turbo/Lehi
6. Brooks
7. Fogarty
9. Someone good please
13. Galvin (injuries will mean he gets plenty of time in the halves and he can build into the position, and you can give him marquee half money still given Brooks/Fogarty are just over a mil combined)

Then 2028 onwards
1. Turbo/Lehi
6. Galvin
7. Walsh/Brooks/Large
9. Whoever we've recruited

I'd be considering letting Large go back to the tigers if his bridges aren't burnt and facilitate an early swap for 2026 . Or, pull out of the Fogarty race now and hope Galvin or Brooks can play 7.
