I’ve had a look it doesn’t look cannabalised it looks better. I read another article today. It’s not actually foxtel. The parent company of foxtel owns the rights and owns kayo sports but it’s a separate company which will actually compete against fox. It’s just that the parent owns the rights.

I guess it’s a way to try to drag some people back that have dropped it
I'll test it next year as all I watch is NRL on Foxtel anyway.

The on demand feature is worth it alone. Watch the replays at a convenient time rather than recording it, only to find that Foxtel didn't keep to its schedule

Would be great to know their library list of league games
ie NSWRL, ARL, NRL archives on demand

Actual winning Manly games start at 11pm tonight on Foxsports @Ryan. It's been an absolute Rorter-a-thon since the grand final on Foxsports. Just sick of seeing them purple scum,Cowgirls and Donkeys.

Sorry I meant kayo will canabilise 'Foxtel Now' as sport was a major driver.

Interesting that Fox's parent company is the driver behind it. I guess they figure they might try monopolize sport streaming before other players arrive.

In the US, Amazon is rumoured to start making some serious plays for US sports. Would have fox here a little nervous, so probably getting a head start. (Yes we are a tiny market compared to them, but it's how it all starts)

If Amazon or Google decided they wanted to be the major players, it would be hard for anyone else to compete in the digital space unless they already had a footprint.

The truth is, as we move into on demand media and a lower tolerance for traditional advertising, 'free' TV will drift away as younger generations accept paid content as the media norm.

Netflix, etc... are driving the culture of change.

I also think they’ve realized they have a branding issue with fox. New product new team. I’m guessing they hired digital specialists rather than broadcasters because it looks pretty good from the demo I’ve seen. Gets millennials back potentially. Well it’ll get me. I cancelled my fox once the footy season ended

Yeah agree. There is no mention of fox at all on the site, so it seems they are really making this their own brand.

It will get alot of people in as the price makes it enticing.

Telstra might not be too pleased about it as their weekly pass makes the sub par service rather expensive by comparison.

My house is in a brand new estate, with NBN all on fibre and we get very very close to the fastest speeds available ( regularly 98-99 download, slowing a little to about 95-96 at night).

I’ve got Foxtel, and due to the cricket I’ve kept the sports package going,in years gone by I went to the most basic package during summer.

I’d never go to just streaming as I use my Foxtel Box in the caravan.

That's great service.

I was on Bigpond cable where i'd get high 30's download. Got forced onto NBN because it was available on our street and they refused to renew our cable service. It used the same HFC connection into the premises but the NBN network meant our download speeds dropped down to mid 20's. It's a joke.

Recently moved to a street where there is Bigpond cable internet but no NBN service yet. So back on a Bigpond cable plan and we are hitting high 40's and 50 download speeds. Can't wait till NBN hits our address and I'm forced back onto that crap.

However Foxtel are now migrating all customers off the cable network and onto satellite. So if you want foxtel you have to install a satellite dish even if cable connection is available. I think they don't want to rely on telstra infrastructure moving forward. Decided against the satellite and am currently trialling the Foxtel Now streaming service given our download speeds are pretty good with the Bigpond cable. The downside is you can't record shows like you can with the IQ boxes, only watch them as catch up through the On Demand feature. Typical Foxtel, do something half baked. And of course you can't just choose the packages you want. you get shoehorned into taking a basic pack which has rubbish you don't need and then pay a premium for the extras like sport.
