I just wanted to share with the younger fans a song that we used to sing back in the late 70's and early 80's that taunted any team from western Sydney. This song evolved from the fibros v silvertails war started by Roy Masters.

You live in fibro out in the sticks.
We live by the seaside in a house of bricks.

You buy the holdens, volkswagens too,
We buy mercedes, volvos by the 2

You eat the meat pies, sausage rolls as well,
We eat the oysters, you eat the shells.

You save the coins, we save the notes.
You guy the dingies, we buy the boats!

SILVERTAILS, clap clap clap. SILVERTAILS ect ect ect

It was always a good laugh and the old Manly cheer squad was the biggest in the comp back then.

Was it Lloyd? Whatever his name was, I wonder what happened to him?

Some of the old flags used to be huge. Pity you can't have them like that these days. The streamers and shredded paper used to look great, but hate to have been the poor cleaners afterwards.

One of my favourite moments was at Parra stadium when some poor guy stood up on our first year back in the semis and sang this loudly, as we were getting smashed. Boos and hisses abounded from the slime faithful. Shortly after he was escorted from the ground but it gave us a great laugh.

Heh heh Thanks ss78. We older silvertails heard this one out at the Parra semi a number of years ago (I was wedged between Matas and Canteen Worker) - right before security threw his one-eyed eagle ass out of the stadium before he was lynched. 🙂

His name was Lyall Roberts and he had the loudest voice ive ever known, he used to shout out the letters.

I had a massive flag, 2 metre square and in those days streamers and paper were so normal. We were a cleaners nightmare lol
