Sea Eagles 48 def Knights 26
The Manly Sea Eagles made it 11 in a row at Fortress Brookvale on Sunday against the Newcastle Knights after a second half try scoring blitz. Motivated by the loss against the Rabbitohs and the return of Ben Kennedy, Steve Menzies, Terry Hill & Brent Kite, the Sea Eagles took an early 4-0 courtesy of a determined Terry Hill. The Knights were able to level the score after slipping through some terrible Sea Eagles defence. The Knights crossed the try line again and went ahead 10-4. A late try to Scott Donald left the Sea Eagles 2 points behind at the half time break.
The Sea Eagles came out a different side in the second half as they looked to take control of the game. A try to Brett Stewart just after the break saw the Eagles go ahead 12-10. A try 2 minutes later to captain Michael Monaghan lifted the team and momentum was the Sea Eagles way. Soon after Terry Hill crashed over for his second try giving the Sea Eagles a 24-10 lead. Chris Hicks was next in line to score as the Sea Eagles put the game out of reach for the depleted Knights side. However the Knights did not give up and following 2 tries went within 16 points of the Sea Eagles. Another try to Michael Monaghan put the Knights further behind at 42-20 and handed them their 13th lost for the season. The Knights crossed again for a consolation try to make it 42-26. The Knights were tortured for the last time when their ex-team mate Ben Kennedy scored, Chris Hicks converted with the final score 48-26.
Lower Grades
The Manly Sea Eagles Jersey Flegg suffered their third loss in a row on Sunday after the Newcastle Knights won convincingly. The 8th placed Sea Eagles knew it was going to be a tough match coming up against the 4th placed Knights. Newcastle took control of the match from the onset and unfortunately Manly were unable to match it with them. A few silly errors from Manly helped the Knights along. The Knights eventually running in winners 40-22.
Geoff Toovey’s Premier League side were able to break a 2 match losing streak with a commanding win over the Knights on Sunday. The Manly team came out firing in the first half with the motivation of levelling with the Knights on the table. It was a great first half with Manly scoring 24 points to the Knights’ 6, giving them a handy 18 point lead at the half time break. It was a quiet second half with just the one try to Manly being scored. Manly winger Darren Peachey crossed the try line to secure the win for the Sea Eagles.

With Luke Williamson & Jason King out due to injury Des Hasler has been forced to make changes to this week’s side to play the Bulldogs in Sunday’s Channel 9 blockbuster.
