Navale killing it!
He is, I mean it's "only" the Cook Islands but he's playing well!

I'm liking his speed and efforts. He is, I mean it's "only" the Cook Islands but he's playing well!
I do think it's time to look again at eligibility criteria especially with the rise of Tonga and Samoa. They are no longer also-rans and shouldn't be treated as such.Michael Jennings has scored hattricks for Australia, Tonga and Fiji. A fair effort, but you have to laugh at the eligibility! As you get cut from one team just make your way to another.
Stats from nrl.comThere is no way Mafoa played 36 minutes, more like 12-15.
Only the Cook Islands, but Navale was very good.
Mafoa got limited time, but you can only give it your best.He ran very strongly and made good metres through contact, lined up and whacked a few in defense.
You can see he used to be an edge with his athleticism, reckon he will develop well in Reggie's next year.
Yeah, think Caleb came off for the last 10 too.Stats from nrl.com

Ohhhhh I like the look of this one, as an edge, might change as he fills out may be, and sure prop at SG level. There is no way Mafoa played 36 minutes, more like 12-15.

I wanted to be a little reserved, but I have to admit he gave me Ola vibes in his stint....Ohhhhh I like the look of this one, as an edge, might change as he fills out may be, and sure prop at SG level.
Right now, he's skinny, Tall, quick, footwork, those chicken legs have some speed. Very naturally found space out wide and lapped it up like a tall back.
Now. I note the commentators said he's been in the Manly system in the past.
Hoping he's still with us. 💕
I think the lack of speed is the reason he fails to the bend the line, more so than how often he ball plays. He has never been quick but he has definitely slowed down the last 3-4 years; speed equals power. Jake’s best years were sadly under Barrett, when he would produce offloads and make post contact metres.Sadly I have to agree. About the only thing he really does bring to the table these days is his tireless defence. One look at the GF winning lock shows the chalk and cheese difference between a good one and a half decent one.
In attack other than his lack of pace, the main problem I see with him is that he's played the role of ball playing lock for so long that he's really lost the front rowers ability to at least bend the line when he does do a hit up.
There are skinny backs in our team with more post contact metres.
Jake also goes for a quick play the ball, he doesn’t look to bust the tackle or offload, it’s all about play the ball speed for him and setting up the next play.I think the lack of speed is the reason he fails to the bend the line, more so than how often he ball plays. I like his energy and speed he does stuff. But yeah, he needs more strings added to his bow to be anything special in the NRL. Ball playing. Even the making and taking of space and backing himself. He will play more NRL in 25 but he still needs more development before he really ready to be unleashed for mine.Just not quite getting the vibe with Navale. Not sure I see any upside to what we already have in Top 30.

Jake up until 2020 ran with intent at the line.
He is very similar to Jake but will cost us 800k lessI see a middle forward who gets over the advantage line with speed. Good defender too. Probably not a superstar but his playing style suits the modern game.
31 in February.Jake has 2 years left on his contract, at $950k per season.
And unless he himself decides that he's had enough at the end of 2026.....the club will likely offer a contract extension (although at a lower price). He'll be 32 by then.
