I feel for Hodko - I thought he was utilised very poorly last year by numnuts. I'm not too fussed about his lack of speed, defensive liabilities tbh. Green was a worse defender but they're both excellent organising halves and when we signed Trent I thought he'd be a perfect foil for DCE. But Trent wasn't either given that main organisational role or DCE was so used to doing the work of 2 halves it continued. One things for certain - if DCE doesn't share the workload with his halves partner he'll be targeted all day and that really nullifies his ability to seize opportunities off the cuff. I have an open mind whether it's Kane or Trent and may the best man win. Go Manly

Sadly Timmy, Hodko has passed his used by date. In his day he was an excellent organising half. But his body is just not up to the challenge any longer. Not surprising that the Knights and Sharks were prepared to let him go. He's now at best a reserve grade half, and Manly have a bunch of players to join DCE, such as Elgey, Fainu, Cust and eventually Metcalfe to fight for that 5/8 position, and all would now be more effective than Hodko. Hodko was a fine player but sometimes you've got to accept that the game is cruel and being no longer able to give even 80%, has no role in a first grade side.

A Sentimental Bloke? Didn't someone called Dennis write songs about you a little over a century ago? Nothing wrong with it Timmy. I reminisce about Lyons to Menzies all the time, and then watch Gibbsy and Blakey rip opposition sides apart, or Randall tearing opposition players in two. And then there was Fulton and Eadie...ahhh much to remember
