Fainu re-signs to 2021 (inclusive).

Rather an explosive Heath Le'Strange type, but Fainu can also play in the halves I guess (did at NYC levels at times).

Also, what's that say for Hodko this coming season? Blacktown maybe.

Don't like his party mentality, but it is what it is I guess. He and Suli together (and a few others ) worry me culturally.

We need more Kennedy / Kite character types.

They are becoming men ..... Kitey by his own admission was a loose cannon at the same age ......

Plenty of depth in our halves for 2019:

DCE
Elgey
Hodkinson
Api
Fainu
Cust?

I imagine Hodkinson will fill in for DCE while on Origin duty or if injured.

I think Api and Fainu are both great players and I'm sure there will be a way to play both of them in the top 17.
Both are versatile enough to play as halfback, should an injury occur mid-match.

I know we disagree on this front, but I keep going back to the leagues worst backline mate. I'm sorry, I know that pisses you off when I say, but it is, what it is.
Nah mate it doesn't piss me off , we are all entitled to our opinion. I just think something else is going to happen regarding backline and don't think Hasler will settle just yet . Walker has thrown a spanner in the works for not knowing if he's going to be there or not but I'm thinking Des will have someone up his sleeve.

Agreed - there will be some shuffling of the chairs in the backline before the season starts - a new Centre will appear I think and someone (a forward) will be moved on to counterbalance

Playing hooker seems a very demanding position and we've seen an exhausted Api benched because of his heavy workload. Having Fainu ensures that Api can put in heavily knowing he'll be reprieved before he starts to miss tackles etc. These days having two hookers is becoming essential.

Adversity under strong leadership can only toughen our club . Bring it on !!!

Great facilities and comfort zones dont build a resilient winning culture . Adversity under strong leadership does .

I have learned and I have quoted many times on here that adversity will define the real you
Adversity will either break you and see you fail and quit
Or it will strengthen you and see you overcome challenges and prevail

Des has proven that he is not a quitter . He has never walked away from a challenge . Under the most volatile board in the history of the game at Manly when the media was quoted as saying that our club was a dysfunctional club and on the brink of Destruction Des focused on only what he does best at Manly and that is getting his team up to win games .

Bring on Adversity and Bring on Des Hasler

Don’t mind Api among the physical early encounters with Fainu chiming in as they tire - this kid will be explosive off the bench and as mentioned, can fill into the halves if needed also - the best teams have bench impact and its not always size, speed and enthusiasm like Fainu is a win and best yet to come.

I see your point Ryan but there has been no bigger party animal that has ever laced on a boot for the eagles than BK. Some of the stories would make your eyes water.
BUT he backed it up with his burning competiveness and desire. Let’s see if these boys can do the same.

This is good news, the kid is a gun young hooker and he also covers the halves positions. I am glad to see the club invest in good young players and do not forget that he provided the pass that won the grand final for our Holden cup kids in 17!
