BTW, Captain Turbo had a great and promising first half (given the previous mediocrity)…. But, then fell away into his previous garbage.

Let me reiterate… 30-10 against a team second last and without their only inspirational leader, Moses. Farrrkkking pathetic on any level.

Saying it way too often now, yet again they didn’t seem interested. Attitude is a serious issue this year and I’m not sure there’s a fix anytime soon. I refuse to believe it’s DCE, yes he’s the captain but that was 9 weeks ago now and it’s 1 guy leaving in a massive team. 1 guy doesn’t make you play like you’ve never met.

Paseka’s injury doesn’t get enough attention. Our forwards are absolutely gone without him, we can’t compete in that department. All we have are ageing forwards (most of our signings in recent years) having to try and carry this team up field, obviously it won’t work. Bully had some solid carries as he always does but he can’t do it all, that’s not his typical role. Tonight I watched the vast majority of our sets being hit ups and us barely getting past the 50, while they made countless breaks and easy metres through the middle which allowed their backs to do what they needed to do. Unfortunately you can’t help injuries but this will just be the way things go until Paseka can hopefully return for our last 3 games. Jurbo certainly won’t be a fix, he’s getting old himself and Burbo is improving but is also not going to be a fix. Aloiai back next week is at least something, same with Tof perhaps although again, I don’t think he’s been all that great himself thus far.

Certainly on track to miss the 8 at the moment because the attitude issues and the lack of connectivity and fluidity in anything we do is not changing. Having said that, we all know we aren’t doing anything great this year anyway so maybe missing it is actually for the better, give us the “what on earth happened to them this year?” treatment so we at least have some sort of motivation to improve into next year 🤷‍♂️
I somewhat disagree. We were actually winning the territory battle early on. Our defence up the middle was a schemozzle. We let so many major breaks up our middle it was embarrassing.

Genuinely - can anyone think of a worse loss we’ve had in the last 2.5 years under Seibold? And does anyone think he can turn a result like that around by the end of the year? Hanging onto ****ing nothing from my eyes

Yeah, I’ll give you that, early on we won the territory battle but only just. Before the try I remember thinking we were just throwing nothing at them and were lucky they weren’t throwing anything back, until they did of course

Problem is our guys can’t go the full 80, and I thought their pack was significantly weaker on paper

No seriously, go back and watch the game. Look where the first three sets finished for each team. We had them

Eels 1st set finished on half way
Our 1st set finished in their 45
Their 2nd set finished in their 45
Our 2nd set finished on the 50
Their 3rd set finished on their 40
Our 3rd set finished on their 45

Based on that, I’d say we were winning it very slowly. But my issue here is the game is not 3 sets. We should be winning through the middle early because our forwards on paper are quite a bit better than theirs, but as the game went on we got tired and they didn’t, that allowed them to get through the middle so easily, we then got pinned multiple times and struggled to escape. A LOT of our game was just taking hit ups through the middle getting out of our own end. Why is our pack the only ones getting exhausted against a pack that sat in last? It’s not just week this has been a common theme for many weeks now. Our forwards are simply not winning the whole game, only maybe when fresh. So is it a substitution thing? I don’t know, some minutes have been really weird recently, but I do know Paseka would help us massively. That’s how I’m seeing it currently, I think he’s been a monster out.

Yes, and unfortunately that doesn’t change with Pee Heart Paseka or Preacher Self-absorbed involved d.

Yeah… we gave away a penalty on the 5th… could we be any more self destructive?

Just back from a nice dinner out , with zero internet reception until I got back to the caravan with my Starlink connection.

Wow , pleased I missed all that.

We are ****ed for 2025, and probably years to come, a new coach won’t make any difference we need to sack 95% of the players and start again.

We won’t win the spoon but we’ll go close
A new coach can certainly make a difference, if you get the right one. I don’t put it down to the players and needing to sack them all, the squad needs some strengthening, but overall it isn’t a terrible squad

Our game plan is absolutely awful, we can slate the forwards most weeks, but we play 90% of the time with a game plan that nullifies them and we go side to side along the backline. 2-3 times a season we turn up and have been told to go hard up the middle, and look like a decent side, think back to Storm and Dogs wins last season where we ran and hit hard up the guts and dominated them. We are hit extremely hard at the moment in the front row, but that isn’t a reason to completely go away from using them. I love Olakau’atu as a player, but **** I’m sick of yelling at the TV for him to actually run the bloody ball and hit it at some pace. He and the entire side has the slow motion button jammed on last night. Bullemore stands out like dog balls every week because he hits the ball at pace and maximum effort every run

I currently watch a squad with less talent than ours every week, that are extremely well drilled, consistent and turn up for each other every week, Andrew Webster shows what a new coach could do

I’m not a person that wants every footy player to have the same body shape, I loved George Rose because even though he was a big man, he had some footwork and mobility along with some surprising pace that made him hard to handle. But seeing Lodge come on last night, have to question the professionalism of the joint that allows a guy that was already slow and lumbering with poor lateral movement to blow out to the size he is now. Isn’t the prick meant to be boxing training as well ?

As I mentioned elsewhere, I’ve been with Manly since 1992, for a large majority of those years, since games were available live each and every week, my weekend plans revolves around when Manly was on. For the first time now, that isn’t the case. I don’t get excited for us to play, I don’t find us exciting to watch play, even after the Penrith win I was flat, and last night I had no interest at all in the 2nd half. And I’m living in a country when the buzz for league is absolutely off the charts at the moment, the marketing of the Warriors and what they are producing off the park on game day is electric, I saw it first hand on ANZAC day, and their team is backing that up. There is also a clearly laid out plan that they aren’t shy in making public about their long term goals and plans around development and recruitment , again something that we don’t have at all

Glad I’m out of the country and didn’t have to watch the game. Sounds like an absolute sh**show. But really, I’m not surprised. You can’t trust this team to string two decent games together. One step forward, 17 steps back.

In an absolute **** show of a game, I will pull out Garrick for his defensive effort, thought he was extremely good. Tevaga always visibly puts in as well.

There was also 1 particular play in the game I loved for heart and effort in a game where those 2 factors were largely missing, and it was Nathan Brown absolutely busting his arse chasing a long break downfield, and he actually did enough to get to the halfback in the end, even though Hawkins did manage to get a very good ball away

The more passionate we are about our Manly
The more devastated we become after a disappointing loss
Disappointing because We played a rookie coached team that was only 12 weeks old and weakened without their two best players
On Paper we were the more favored team to win
But Rookie Ryles had the superior winning game plan and his players pumped up for a premium higher quality performance .

The SS Seibold Sea eagles keep sinking to new depths

Jake Arthur – Failure – let him go - only possible excuse was he had a Grade 1 concussion, he created no chances for the outside backs and Quac, his high kicks weren’t high enough for the depth allowing their fullback to take them with plenty of time before being put under pressure.

Bullemore should be given longer spells he has been our best forward this year, TKO was left on when he was gassed and Bully taken off !

Lodge is taking the piss – what a f**king joke, he should be let go immediately.

I have been a Waddles supporter, he tries but he is definitely only an emergency bencher.

BFB has 15 to 20 good mins in him per half –– in his defense, he always has a go.

Jazz - see above + dumb plays that are penalized when tired

TKO – see above

Quac – showed why he wasn’t picked for SOO game 1 and on last nights form won’t play this series, seems uninterested, jogs, needs to learn to come onto the ball with speed. (Coach?)

Brooks – hugely uninspiring performance ineffective in attack, poor kicking game, made some good tackles but missed a few as well, doesn’t stand up when needed. Follower not a leader.

Croker all heart but without Jake his defense wasn’t enough up the middle and his kicking game was not great.

Navale – young, strong & fast why only the measly few minutes

Hard to pick our best last night way too much sideways play

Don’t feel like awarding MVP but if pressed it would be 3 Tom , 2 Lehi and 1 Simpkins (who should remain the hooker and play the full 80 mins. – Rueben tackled well but was not offered much opportunity from Arthur BFB & Jazz for effort until gassed.

But you have to think the coaching is soft and uninspiring because that how we play.

Time to start blooding some of our young forwards who are available but never picked, piss Lodge off for starters and try one of :-
  • Aitasi James
  • Chris Patolo
  • D’Jazirhae ‘Mia’ Pua'avase - Development Player
  • Simione Laiafi - Development Player

I know how you feel Bozo
This is the round of pathetic performances, from the Friday night embarrassment, then to this game it has been very sub par rugby league, yet again the tipping comp has gone to **** !!

No mate you dont know how I feel

This is not all about just this round of the season
This is about the overall over achievers and under achievers
Over all your coach has his team number one and he is overachieving
Our coach is underachieving and he has our team out side the top 8

And all those are the players a Head coach is accountable for recruiting , for the positions he selects them to play and how how affective he has them playing for him on a regular basis .
No one has a job that they are not accountable for their duty responsibilities
