From the Manly Sea Eagles website, here is the ' Injury Update: Taniela Paseka' released on Tuesday, 25 March 2025:

Sea Eagles prop Taniela Paseka has undergone surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury midway through the first half of Sunday night’s Round 3 victory over the Raiders.

Taniela is aiming to be available to play in Round 25 this season following a 16–20-week recovery period.

From the 'NRL 2025, Injuries, Suspension Return Dates, Casualty Ward and Key Information for the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership Season' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Monday, 19 May 2025) * * *

Jake Trbojevic, who captained the Blues to last year's Origin series win, has been ruled out of the May 28 State of Origin series opener at Suncorp Stadium after suffering a Category 1 head knock while playing for Manly against North Queensland.

He was attempting to tackle Cowboys winger Murray Taulagi and slumped to the ground after a head clash, with team-mates - including brothers Tom and Ben - showing concern for the inspirational forward.

The NRL's mandatory 11-day stand down for concussions applies to State of Origin.

"Obviously it was a really sad sight to see him concussed there," Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold said.

"That’s the second one in the last month. We have a lot of concern for Jake, but he’s up and about. Obviously he will miss next week, and we need to look after his welfare."

Manly Sea Eagles
  • Jake Trbojevic (Concussion, TBC)
  • Tommy Talau (Hamstring, TBC)
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, Round 12)

  • Gordon Chan Kum Tong (Head Knock, TBC)
  • Taniela Paseka (Achilles, Round 25)

Also, from the Official NRL Casualty Ward & Injury Information, Manly hub page, there are slight variations to the information regarding the unavailable or injured players and their return periods:
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, Round 12)
  • Toafofoa Sipley (Suspension, Round 13)
  • Lachlan Croker (Knee, Round 14)
  • Taniela Paseka (Achilles, Round 25)
  • Gordon Chan Kum Tong (Head Knock, TBC)
  • Tommy Talau (Hamstring, TBC)

Lodge in NSW Cup:

66 minutes
22 runs, 19 hit ups
275 metres (!) 107 PCM
5 tackle breaks
1 offload
29 tackles, 1 missed, 1 ineffective

He'd be straight in for me. If Aloiai is fit, I'd have him on the bench too.

By all accounts, I'd like to see the following:

1. Turbo (C)
2. Saab
3. Koula
4. Garrick
5. Hopoate
6. Brooks
7. Walsh
8. Lodge
9. Simpkin
10. Taukeiaho
11. Olakau'atu
12. Burbo
13. Tevaga
14. Jake Arthur
15. Aloiai
16. Bullemor
17. Brown

Still an off-chance that Turbo, Olakau'atu, and maybe even Bullemor are put in Origin, although I doubt it. Best pack since we lost Paseka.

Someone will be injured though, you wait...

I’d be very surprised if Arthur wasn’t picked at 7

Great opportunity for Jake Arthur to shine this week against his old club, providing he's picked of course. I can't see us using Joey Walsh. I hope Siebs doesn't do anything stupid like moving Brooksie to half and bringing a forward like Burbo into 5/8. Leihi could play there but might be required @ fullback the way Tommy was hobbling about.

In other words I'll be surprised if we don't replace DCE with a specialist half.
(whether it's Arthur, Walsh or Wakeham that best fits the occasion, I've faith in the coaching staff to decide)
SER8 wash your mouth out with soap. Nothing personal against the kid but I don't ever want to see young wakeham in a manly first grade jersey. Nothing to do with what happened last year. He just isn't anywhere near NRL standard.

It will be interesting to see how the coach goes. Blooding Walsh or selecting a very motivated Jake Arthur who will want to prove a point against his old club.

The way the two teams play the eels without Moses is a bigger lose than us without Ch$rry

I love these games were a clubs depth is tested. Who ever new is in the halves. Just Play your game and stay composed. There is plenty of experienced blokes around you whose job it is to lift in this one.
