There is no time as perfect for NRL hypothesising as the off-season. It's either that or convincing ourselves that international rugby league really is enough to fill the void that exists between October and March. While those months will be taken up with joyous reflection for some (Manly, we're looking at you) there are other teams whose fans will spend the summer thinking of "ifs, buts and what could've beens".
