I highly doubt the wheels are in motion for 2028. If there’s any substance to the rumour, you’d have to think it’s an early release that both club and player are onboard with.

I can’t see why any discussion would be had pertaining to 2028 in 2025, about a 25 year old edge forward with 41 games experience from the current wooden spooners…he’s a decent enough footballer but he’s hardly the talk of the NRL, so why would his contract be up for discussion at this stage?

I agree and don’t think it’s about 28, but I do think its possibly cap related, they’re also flush for edges and we need a couple, especially one as mobile as Lucas, we’ve all seen what happens when Burbo is forced to shift out and Quac can’t be the one, we’ll not defensively anyway.

Perhaps we could mould Lucas into a 14, that would provide options in case of a reshuffle and not weaken our bench, asking Simpkins to play 80 week in week out might be the issue, who knows, just food for thought, but we do need a mobile edge and extra depth in our edge options, Waddell and Bully aren’t the answer.

No problem with that, its what the side needs for backline cover. If it happens Burbo can still play a strong role from the bench (before maturing into his role as a middle a few years down the track)

He’s good but he’s also 25 and played a grand total of 41 first grade games. I think some of the superlatives in this thread are a bit premature. I’d still like it if we signed him though.

I expect him to be my lord and saviour then demolish him if he does not score 100+ fantasy points in the first game
