Just as well Burgess never joined Manly. Imagine Todd Rundgren Greenberg’s reaction if this had all panned out at Manly.

I think it said he was charged with Intimidation. Carries a max penalty of 5 years jail so doesn't fit Greenberg's automatic standown, but being a domestic violence charge, certainly should have attracted the same exercise of discretion that applied to Dylan Walker

Not to divert from the subject but it makes me wonder what all the details were behind Inglis' fall from grace & subsequent medical retirement?

He's another one Greenburg couldn't bend over backwards fast enough to protect so I daresay what we heard in the media was only the tip of the iceberg, much like this case with Burgess.

Totally agree, notwithstanding all the allegations presented even just calling your partner a c... whether to their face or about them shows what sort of person you are....drunk, angry, or wasted doesn't matter.

I wasn't intending to offend you, and in fact, in many ways you are one of the most positive of all ST posters.

My intent was only to point out the contradiction in some of your sayings. Do you even believe them? I doubt it! You seem like you are probably a brave and I dare say honourable person.

Yet you like to say everyone has a price, there's a bit of whore in all of us. That is a cynical view and it's wrong. History records countless cases of people who made the ultimate sacrifice, for an ideal, a principle, a sense of duty. People who stood up to bullies and standover merchants, knowing full well it wouldn't end well for them. People whose spirit was indomitable, who would not be bought out.

You talk of human nature? There is no such thing as a universal 'human nature'. All that exists is the nature of all the particular humans who have existed so far, past and present. Many, many of whom do not intimidate or assault others.

GI, like many people, developed substance dependence issues in the context of being treated for injury. He had many injuries. But as one of the most valuable footballing commodities in the country he was under immense pressure to get on the field. Pretty much throughout his entire career. To the credit of Wayne Bennett, he told GI he would not pick him if he needed medication to get on the field. His career came to an abrupt halt.
Champion player, I hope he finds a good place after footy.

Yeah let's throw the violent player under the bus.
But how about the club whose dishonesty and corrupt behaviour was aimed at preserving their footballing 'asset'?

Yes, Greenberg left a great big expensive carpet behind with a lot of crap swept under it, with still plenty of room under there for V'Landys to use.

I have plenty of flaws, just ask my wife, and mates...they will line up to tell you.

"Having" to control ourselves to not carry out Domestic Violence really shouldn't even be a thing though.
