Mestrov apparently refused a requested transfer for one younger contracted Manly players towards the end of last season . quite within his and the club "s rights to do it again with Fifita . Fifita does look promising and most likely would have gained a bench spot for Manly "s opener just based on trial form . just how good he can get obviously yet to be determined . Dragons no doubt offering a bit more then his current deal but sure that Manly could find a way of offering an improved deal but no doubt would expect to see some consistent and good level footy this season or soon for any upgraded deal and especially for 2024 and ongoing . Mestrov should just put his foot down again and refuse any breaking of the contract . .

One thing the first match of the NRL season showed us is that injuries will be a huge part of a club's success/failure. The game is getting harder because the players are bigger and stronger. They also train harder and that is contributing to just as many injuries as ones sustained in a match.
It means that most, if not all, of the 30 contracted players in any squad will get a chance to play first grade at some point in the season.
Fifita will get his chance at Manly.
If a player's sole aim is to play first grade then he'd join the 'Fins. The only way Illawarra could possibly temp anyone is with money.
The club with the most depth will win the minor premiership this year, not necessarily the best 17 players because at any one time at least a few of your best players are sidelined with injury.

agree. my personal opinion also is that game management and kick chase games help with injuries. no proof but surely

being the team that has to bust more nuts to get out of your own half can not help. having poor systems require more grunt required to achieve the same or lesser results, putting the body more often in harder places,

This in the riffs secret formula. forwards run straight, play the ball quickly, cleary kicks in the line a lot , gets hammered but has the kicker protection rule so its generally just bumps and bruises

meeting players before the line before they get a head of steam has to be an advantage

kicking deep, from the line, with momentum and an aggressive chase team is a absolute must. mosses last night in the second half kicked mainly from behind the line in the second half even though gillard and junior were making metres. he needed to put himself out there a bit more, which he usually does

injuries occur more frequently under fatigue, has been proven

wow.. who writes this fiction..and if that's the case, with Boyle, and others coming of contract after this year, should have no trouble upping Fifita's contract for 24. Their is so much upside to Manly compared to Saints..why would you leave?
His manager to get a new deal

I know it’s too early to say but Seibold appears to not have the same issue Des had with giving a young player a run.So when Fifita is ready to go and shows he can handle it,he’d only be heading elsewhere for the money and if that’s the case,so be it.The last few yrs have proven that the club needs to be smarter with their cap
But on the same hand Seibold gave plenty of Broncos juniors a run at expense older heads and look how that worked out.

Fifita has been in the Manly system for several years having played with Schuster, Weekes, Tuitavake & Burbo in the 2017 HM GF. Hopefully, playing for a possible premiership in the near future with his mates is more enticing than dollars at this early stage of his career.

I’m not sticking up for Seibold as there’s a lot to pan out yet at Manly to prove himself, but there was a lot of issues behind the scenes at the Broncos and there was a distinct lack of leadership there.Granted,he did release a few older heads that were there, but they weren’t the type of leaders the club needed.Unfortunately, the Broncos are in for some pretty big seasons in the next few years and many of those young players will be at the forefront

Does anyone think Paseka will ever step up? How many years of next season!! Hope it is 2023. If we lose Fifita for Boyle than that is bad cap management.
He said it himself in media this week - this year has to be his year. He talked about getting dropped last year and knowing that he needs to take that next step in 2023.

Its a huge year for a few of these props - Paseka and Keppie in particular.

Both of those guys have flashed big potential but have lacked consistency.

It's really now or never for those guys.
