Doorman Vs Frogs eyes, 100m sprint.

From Wikipedia

"Johnny Bliss wasn't just a rugby league player though. He was also a highly successful beach sprint champion. He won an amazing 12 Australian championships in a row from 1939 to 1952. A record that may never be equalled or broken and he even attempted a comeback at the age of 38 to win the 1960 NSW title."

"Bliss was an exceptionally fast runner. During the 1947 season, decked out in full football gear including heavy leather football boots and carrying a football, Bliss clocked an amazing 11.1 seconds over 110 yards and also recorded 9.9 seconds over 100 yards. Compare this time with that run by American Harrison Dillard who won the 100 m gold medal at the 1948 London Olympics in 10.3 seconds and it shows just how fast Bliss really was."

The Olympics were 100m so Dillard's time of 10.3 has to be compared to Bliss's 110yd time of 11.1 which would equate to being beaten by about 7m

Les Hannigan was faster over 100 than Irvine. U can forget Rod Jackson and all those other pretenders. Frog eyes was quickish. Les kept his speed, but couldn't tackle, catch or pass.
And this brings me back to 20th May 1967, and the 5 tries, and my 50 yrs with Manly.

I reckon Doors would own the 1st 50 but Garts would run him down in the next.
Johnny Bliss ( before my time but he was quick apparently)
Chris Montgomery
Phil Blake
Any others?
Les Hanigan was incredibly fast, from 10-50 , but Gartner would probably run him down over 100, although Hanigan was just beaten in a race over 100m by Dave Irvine form Parra/Penrith who was world professional sprint champion at the time .
Dessie was very fast in his early days, I remember him beating ET and Greg Alexander in a match race
