I. Could but why bother? You have your opinions i have mine.
I will say this thou.
You even mentioned DCE getting outplayed by DW as a 5/8 in your eyes so if thats what you really believe then good luck to you. I hear there are jobs going as a FG referee for those with dubious eye sight if your interested?
He outplayed him tonight.. he actually got involved. Last week he outplayed him. The 1st two games ill give to dce... i do however expect dce to have a blinder next week and i will name him as captain in my SC. He is a great player but he goes missing you cant deny that. Tonight prime example.. why didn't he kick close to the line for repeat sets? He palms it off to siro and tommy on the last... he's the #7. Moses didn't do that he got repeat sets and built pressure and hes not even good. We had them and had chances to win but nope 7 tackle sets and once he got caught on the last in there 10.... how? How? He buckled! Simple as that. He will bounce back and will be pivotal against donkeys and raiders imo.. he always does

Ps. I have impeccable eyesight and a 55inch Qled 4k TV.

Lets see.

Will keep it simple for you.

The good stuff.

Won a premiership - check.
Should have been 2 - check
Clive Churchill medal - check
QLD and Current Australian halfback - check
One of the top 3 half backs in the game today - check.
A really decent and smart bloke for a rugby league player - check
Most golden point wins of and player - check
When he's on it he's in everything - check.

The not so good points.

Does go missing sometimes
Has some bad games
Kicking game can blow hot and very cold.
Isn't well liked by some.

So yes he has some bad points but the good far outweighs the bad do they not?

When you guys go on about myth what do you actually mean? That everyone thinks he's the greatest halfback the game has ever seen and those people are obviously stupid?
That he's on too much money?
That he doesn't lead the club with honour?
I'm just confused by the term myth.

Lets look at some more top paid Myth players today.
Ben Hunt
Anthony Milford
Shaun Johnson

There are 3 other halves in that list. Would you swap DCE for any of those?

Im not here to say DCE is the best. Im here to say he's the best at the moment for our great club and i wouldn't swap him for any other NRL half currently playing. And that included Cleary or Moses.
I'd take cleary **** Mitchell moses.
What do you mean greatest halfback?
By myth i mean he goes missing and for someone of his calibre he should not go missing especially with the team we have. Some of the options he takes blow me away.. Last few years hes had some doozys and lots of headless chook moments. The good does out weigh the bad though

manly brother

We are all on the same team, if not the same page.
We are all vying for the same goal, we just see different obstacle
I know my view upsets some but i will stick with it until his game takes on a bit more. He needs a shining light moment yesterday.

game plans, coaches, teams , situations im just not seeing his footy IQ developing. Surely this man knows we need a better kick game and considers tempering his options at times and just decides to be that man. Just surely . Is he the only guy still playing in the 1970s

Honestly, a back up half and a kick game is the only weakness we seem to have

Nathan brown talked about corey norman getting his **** together and stop being a cool cat. daly is not corey norman but the footy relevence is still there. Both just need to work on there games and add A few things. Please , dont get hung up on the people , just the footy comparasim. A fair statement is cherries team has got way better around him both on and off the field.

But eagle i asked the question. Im in no hurry . At some point if you want to show me what I am missing im patient .even pm me. I think he can Play and will no doubt find it some time, at which time everyone rejoices, but he is plenty ready yesterday

PEACE

He plays a team sport . A lot of what you mentioned were team awards. Also kimmorley won a comp. he had a great game in a losing gf, running the ball. Absolutely. The rest is a bit shaky and if he retains some of those rep spots he has work to do. He has achieved many group honours but im talkning about the game he brings to the park each week. His toolkit and footy brain.

He has had some great games but if turbo and walker and doing so much ball running its the least he could do is just put one general stripe on, not the full bar, baby steps , maybe the stripe he wore to keep his origin jersey.

But every great player goes missing at times.
Thing is its about the other players in the side just as much.
Tommy went missing today as well. He's a million dollar player too. But no its all DCE's fault.

The only player i would have considered a worthy replacement for DCE in the past 10 years would have been Cronk. Although i bet if you went through the archives there would have been plenty of times he went missing too but when you have names like Smith, slater, Inglis etc etc you can afford to have mediocre days.

I too get frustrated by some Decisions DCE makes. End of that day thou he's still the best choice to lead our great team about right now.
One day he won't be and there will be a new guy to ride and complain about.

Imagine for a moment that you support the Broncos. DCE has just come on the market at 1.1 million a year. Are you saying to yourself “That’s the man we need to steer the team around the paddock. He will lead us to a premiership”

DCE has, in the past, been a match winning halfback. Not just a kicker of field goals but an organising half. He made more good decisions than bad ones. Unfortunately that was in the past. Now, when placed under pressure, he mostly makes bad calls. Maybe he is trying too hard. Maybe he feels he has to do everything himself. Maybe that’s why he is caught so often with the ball in his hands on the fifth tackle.

One million is not enough for the King of half backs DCE .
I would throw another million at him just for good measure

DCE has not reached the stage where he consistently manages games. The team has evolved and its healthy that everything the team does does not revolve around him.

A big difference in the game last night is that the worms forced line drop outs and maintained pressure and twice two kicks of our led to 7 tackle resets for them. This is something that DCE needs to step up and improve.

Tough comment here, but after DCEs performance against Tonga for australia it won't be long til Moses takes the reigns. Especially if parra win the comp this year. If Moses can do it with his lineup there is no excuse for DCE. The team around him is better

Kimmorley in his prime was a great halfback there's no denying that

DCE’s game declined ever since we lost a real 5/8. He is our only real playmaker and any half would suffer the same consequences under similar circumstances. He can’t do it all himself however much of our cap space he takes up

My perspective

footy is a different job. Your skills are on display constantly, and even though they are all playing the same game , specialists are a must in your 30

The number 7 is a specialist role. In fact being a fully fledged recognised number 7 is almost the number one skill and the most coinworthy to have on your resume. Its a promotion.

But very few players start careers and know where they will be in 5 years time. Footy has a massive turnover and contract employment is iffy and each club sees you as a missing cog

But if you sign a 8 year contract as a number 7 with a premier team, well life has direction. For the next 8 years you are manlys direction. Whoa big responsability.

So after having the very best upbringing possible, surrounded by Des, tooves, Lyon, stewies, and the hardest edge forward pack in recent times cherry got his grounding. He was then lucky enough to be bought into the qld camp with arguably the 3 best playmakers in the game in cronk , thurston, and smith cherry is now king of manly.

You know like gutho but without being a wanker, but he has been shown the way

For 8 years he will be the kicker because he is the best kicker in the game, captain and leader.
He defends strongly, is committed as any player on field and has a red hot go. Is a great support player, almost terry lambish and is involved all game
But

Both his long kicking game and short kicking game have gone backwards in recent years and its not always about pressure
Its about poor positioning and kick attitude
Its about always kicking from behind the play instead of taking advantage and running to kick
Geting caught on 5 th waaaay to often
Too many bread and butter number 7 jobs, the basics just dont look to be worked on . He really needs to work on some of the most basic number 7 duties
His try assists generally consist of hitting shaun lane or sirro on the chest from 8 m out in recent years
Lacks involveemnt in games early

And his short kicking . oppostion legs are not points my friends

A story.
I have a few brothers. My mum like yours grappled to get out names correct when we were being boys. Bajivad i was often called as it has a few letters from all of us, or some stupid combo as she grappled with putting vowels to faces

My mum looking for my name while she was multitasking , is cherries kicking game in the opp teams red zone. Im gonna, run, kick score, tackle, and then the BAJIVID

I have been yelling bajivid at his undecided kick **** for years.

With his future mapped out i just expected his game to evolve a little from being an elusive support player that makes others better where currently its a case of other players having to shine to make him look good.

but this is a hugely unpopular perspective on here, and while i get it its about the footy

I honestly dont see much difference between him and kimmorley when he played for us. kimmorley never had this much talent around him.
Sidenote kimorley is a dick though
Another Bajivid performance from DCE last night. You're swimming against the tide here mate, too many fanboys that can't look at his games objectively.

I've said it before, when he is good he is very, very good and when he is bad he is horrid. Too inconsistent and not really a leader in the true sense of the word. I keep hoping that those issues will correct themselves as he matures. Maybe my expectations are too high and I have tried to temper them somewhat, just have to accept that he is what he is. If he has more good games than bad then we'll be in the mix. He'll kick another field goal soon and it'll be all rosy.

I see what u did there.. very political. Bajivid.. how very neutral ;)

My two bobs worth.
To me our game plan last night was predominantly aimed at their right side ( our left - Walker) which reaped dividends. Walker, Parker and Jorge looked threatening all night. Parra were well drilled defensively on on our right edge and we still had quite a few half breaks that didn’t quite come off. DCE, Tom and Sirro were working that channel and created some good chances - Suli seemed off the pace a bit - whether that was because of Parras left edge defence I dont know. Tom is still learning how good he is( and is expected to be) and is getting more involved in the subtleties. Why he didn’t ask for a challenge on his inside pass just before halftime we’ll never know, another set to us and it’s not 12-2 at h/t.
I thought we looked more threatening at h/t and an even share of the ball would turn it for us.
Both of our kicks that went dead weren’t from Chez I'd much rather him be tackled on the last inside their 10 than kick for kickings sake.
We can go on all we like but when the game was there to be won in the last few sets he more than played his part to get us over the line.
Can he be better? Yes
Can he be more consistent? Yes
Will he win us more games? Yes
Would I swap him for any other halfback? No

Did we lose last night due to DCE?
I think no.

Did Moses outplay him? Yes, because he has to, they’ve got him and plan B is get it to Sivo and plan C is to kick it for Fergo.

My mum would love laugh pretty hard with bajivid getting some air time.

people really struggle with, despite chez being a good footy player he is not that flash at playing half back. We have him to play half . In fact his is on 6 and 7 money combined nearly

His 5th tackle options are now amongst the worst in the league., but on here thats ok, chez has tackling to do

There were pivotal moments in the game where he hid. Watch the final 5 again or at the 10 min mark. We have had no ball, off our feet finally get to there end and sirro gets the ball on last. I have heard the term dominant half on here being used to describe chez. Dominat halfs do not get over called often by a new hooker if the want the ball

When the game was on the line chez kept jumping into either dummy half of 4th receiver.

The true perspective ive found is that too many silvertails posters are bedazzled , and know SFA about winning footy games

The 2 last games of last season are about the only games ive seen in years where our halfback knew it was his job to play the team around the park. Before and since, nothing but back up or worse

I still remember writing on here how pissed i would be in cherry went into the origin team and kicked judiciously, and he did to retain his spot . So he can when he needs it

The team effort yesterday we win that game with josh reynolds at 7
And we lap them with moses, would you doubt that. Now thats perspective
Couldn’t have said it better myself. He really went missing when we needed him most.

DCE is my 8 year olds favourite. He can do no wrong just ask her lol. Seriously though when he is on it is great sight. Not sure if he tries to hard at times or over thinks a play but just needs to find a consistent.
