DCE 350

By the way in relation to the said stonings, as much as I think he’s 100% to blame for the situation he’s in , and I can’t wait until we see the end of him, you’d have to be a heartless bastard to enjoy seeing the vision of him obviously distraught and hugging his wife on the sideline after the last game.

I think that alone is a clear indication he knows he’s ****ed it up big time and he’s shattered that the cards have crumbled around him in such an emphatic way.
Exactly.

I'm not happy to see him suffer, I'm annoyed & extremely disappointed in the way he's gone about things, & I agree, from the look on his face after the game when with his wife & daughters, it looks like he's realised this & is possibly regretting it.

110%, he knows he’s ****ed it up.

There’s still time to sort of fix it but you and I both know he won’t.

I’d call a press conference , eat humble pie, admit he did the wrong thing , apologise to the fans thanking them for their support for 15 years , and announce that he’s retiring from the game as his body is broken.

And yes I’ve accepted an offer to go to the football department of the Roosters from 2026 plus I’ll be also be commentating on Channel 9.

If he did that now ( next 24 hours ) , in a Manly shirt , wife by his side , coach & CEO on the same table, I for one would have some empathy.

And I’m sure others would too.

But instead he's chosen to double down in his latest media appearance.

Will he retire ?
While I think it would be the right choice to retire, he’s too far in now he almost has to play on so he can’t have it look like it all backfired on him. Unless the Chooks decide otherwise, I think he’ll still sign and play next year.

I have a different slightly different view.

DCE vented his frustration with inept coach Seibold to Mestrov. As did the Turbo brothers and " other " senior players last year.

After this player led discussion, Mestrov and Penn gave Seibold a 2 year extension and basically said, fuuck u, we know best.
Why?
How many other clubs were trying to sign Seibold? ZERO.

DCE then asked for a release from his contract as he doesn't want to be coached by Spoonbold as he wants to win a comp.
Release rejected.

No offer at any stage for 2026 until DCE foolishly goes on Channel 9 to announce he is leaving Manly. Mestrov then rings NRL360 with a Clayton's 2 year offer to save face, although they knew DCE would not take it.

Yes, it would have been a lot better to have made the announcement in club colours with Mestrov & Seibold - however the relationship with Mestrov seems to be toxic at best so it may have not been an option - in DCE'S mind at least.

DCE probably naively that telling the world way in advance would allow Manly to get another half - which we have.
However the fallout after that he would have never anticipated.

The rest is history.

Amazingly Mestrov has seemingly gone to ground and missed a lot of valid criticism of his entire management of this sorry mess.
Then there is the confusing part where he says he is a private person, and instead of just letting manly/mestrov know he was done and would be leaving so manly could plan for a halfback without him, he goes on tv.

He had motives, and number 1 was to make him look good between the 2 over the breakup, followed by saying the obligatory nice things about the club while in the same sentence throw them under the bus and get smashed by some media.

Not sure if I heard it correctly, but on tonight’s NRL360 they showed today’s DCE press conference for his 350th and he said something to the effect that the backflip on the titans was far bigger in his mind than his decision to leave Manly this year. I might have heard that wrong, but for someone who is truly Manly, surely that decision to stay all those years ago (for more money) would be a no-brainer, certainly compared to a decision to leave a club you have played almost 15 years for.

I assume he meant it was a bigger decision because it was more money involved, and that’s what matters.

He's a grub.... did anyone see his new tattoo? Said it was his new credo

I just can't forgive DCE for going on the footy show the way he did. Lost me.

Non performing Players blaming the coach. That's nothing new.

But a club actually backing the coach and telling the players to ship up or ship off. Now that's FN Gold.

If only Mestrov went on the footy show with a big fu smirk on his face and sang this line about the club going in a different direction and advising DCE live it would be his last year, no contract would be offered. That would have been priceless.

Maybe. Just seemed like an odd response to a question from a journo about how tough a decision it was for him to leave Manly. He could have just said something to the effect it was a very hard decision but one he thought he had to make and left it there. Why compare it to a backflip on the titans 10 years ago? But like you said, he’s a strange cat.

Ok so 350 then we drop the cats sweet arse to gardening duty. Or even better name him in Ressies. Wooo Hooo.

Won't someone think about the children, that poor Local Manly school kid helplessly toiling away without opportunity in reserves.
