Social mores and expectations have changed quite a bit in recent eras also . Certainly did not seem to be the over arching roles and jurisdiction over sight of governing bodies [ sporting at least ] existing also . Seemed to be just mainly up the discretion of the footy clubs to take care of general matters also so to speak . Certainly agree that plenty of dodgy things still went down , just that only a few very select incidents were taken that seriously . . In the more modern age and with the communication and monitoring technologies available and general community expectations and pressure reporting environment , hardly anything of note is missed .

SINNER: How contradictory is this from a silent NRL and Parramatta? The managing director of developers Aland — the major sponsor of the Eels — escaped conviction this week and was sentenced to an eight-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to drug possession at the Star Casino. Imagine if this were a player? Perhaps it’s because the sponsor brings millions of dollars into the game that we’ve heard nothing out of the NRL.

Yes, imagine if this was a player. The silence is deafening because its a sponsor - and significantly because its the Eels' sponsor.

If it was Manly's sponsor, all hell would break loose. Another case of one rule for one and one for mostly everyone else.

I seem to remember a few years back that Manly weren't allowed to have some betting agency as a shirt sponsor because they were in competition with whoever it was the league had as an official sponsor.

Yet nothing was said when Brisbane plastered William Hill all over their playing jumpers.....

Absolute gold from curtis Scott’s lawyer re the NRL’s request to see police body cam footage.

“"I do not understand why, despite the NRL being told of this repeatedly, why they cannot seem to understand our position, but I’m not surprised given the kingdom that they operate in, which often is full of egotistical lunatics," Eid told The Sun-Herald. "In my opinion, they are encouraging me to breach legislation."”

Like when Lottoland was all over the papers / news re being in breach of betting laws etc.

Things will build slowly over time and the NRL will learn their lesson when a judge gets fed up with their masquerading as a Chapter III court. Then they get uptight when they are labelled a 'kangaroo court' (that is exactly what they are). This NRL mafia organisation are already making a mockery of the judicial system by giving an unknown micro parasite "Greenturd", judicial powers to use at his discretion to mirror the role of a judge/magistrate per say. I question once again WHERE THE HELL IS THE PLAYERS UNION IN ALL THIS, STAND UP AND PROTECT THE PLAYERS.

The NRL then want to exceed the authority of statute and legislation by demanding to see footage of the incident that will be tendered as evidence? Does any other employer have that authority/right?

There are 3 questions in all this that we must never lose sight of

1) If this is really a NO-FAULT stand down policy as the NRL make everyone believe, is there a need to watch footage of any kind to stand a player down for a no-fault policy?

2) Regardless of the minimum or maximum penalties a court could impose for the charges, do these allegations not bring the game into disrepute even without footage?

3) Is the proof not before us over and over again that Greenturd makes a judicial decision on players? Why does the NRL need to see footage? Why does the NRL claim that if they do not receive footage by a certain date and time, they will make a decision purely on the police documents and brief of evidence? It seems they need this information because they are looking for fault.

Is this not a clear case of ultra vires by the NRL? How long must we wait before someone says enough, and takes the corrupt organisation to the cleaners. Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) do you require a special invite to stand up, or are you mixed in well with NRL?

The fact that Scott felt the need to shave off his ridiculous moustache when he had to go to court is evidence enough he knew it made him look like a douchbag and therefore should be found guilty!
I agree completely. If he was confident in his innocence he would have kept that gross, mug lair, “I’m ironically cool” piece of crap moustache, and fronted the judge and jury in all his wanker glory.

he plays for the broncos. The same club that mysteriously gets the rub of the green and refs calls every week every season. The same club with a game each Friday night that has to rate well. The same club that had the Andrew Gee drama among many others that seem to go unnoticed.
Don’t you realise that the NRL applies its “at fault keep playing” policy to Brisbane and Melbourne?

Broncos outside back Izaia Perese has been stood down indefinitely by the club after being charged by police with drug-related offences.

The 22-year-old former Queensland Reds player was charged on Monday with drug offences and was granted bail.

He will appear in a Brisbane court on March 9.

The Broncos sent Perese home from the NRL Nines in Perth when the club was made aware of the developing situation.
