The majority of the Cowboys Stampede will agree with everything the club says, and they give the club the benefit of the doubt that they've signed the right two players for the right price. I

I am in the minority that are not thrilled on signing either of them, but as a Cowboy fan, there comes a point where I have to want them to do because their individual success is winning games of footy for my team. I just don't have a good gut feeling though.

I don't rate Tom at all but I think he's at least worth a gamble at a reported 300k. Chad you know what you get which has some value (400k max) so I just don't understand the signing by Payten but I do hope it works out somewhat. Rugby league is no fun when all 3 Queensland teams are rubbish, Broncos being the clear worst obviously.

I do not rate Chadley at all ... for the most part he's a game managing halfback with no kicking game.

Such an odd choice to punt Clifford, who's kicking game is very raw, but at least it has potential because he's got a big boot... for Chad who's kicking game is very very average and he's over 30.

I've not seen much from Dearden or Drinkwater's kicking game to suggest they can compensate for Chad's kicking game either, but he'll be the primary kicker anyway.

I like Dearden and think he'll come good, but Chad is a trash selection and cows would've been in all sorts of trouble if they lost Drinkwater... although I can't see how they can ever drop Chad for the cash they're paying him, so Dearden looks destined to just be playing in reserves anyway

I don't rate Tom at all but I think he's at least worth a gamble at a reported 300k. Dearden is young, and he might benefit from being with us where the expectations are different (i.e. we've only ever had one premiership and accept we will never have another Thurston). Maybe Broncos fans today accept where the club is at, and the time a rebuild might take, but it is still a club that is used to glory, and plays in front of biggest home crowds in the NRL.

When I watch footage of Dearden in his high school years, I am reminded of Matt Orford. Not his kicking game, but his running and passing. I take it that scouts looked at that, and thought 'that Orford style cuts it in the NRL' whereas the styles of a Sam Walker were probably thought to be too risky and cavalier to translate to the NRL (well at least until Peter Vlandys changed the rules).

I don't recall seeing much of Clifford's long kicking game until after he had signed with Newcastle. Or if he had used it in the past, it wasn't that memorable.

In his last few games with us, it was bittersweet watching him put up great bombs, but know he was leaving soon/

Even in Australia the curse follows us and it's a horrible curse too, all week we have had good signings so we loosen our guard, then we go out to a winnable lead with only 10 minutes left, then the curse has it's way with us 🤣
