We did not deserve that win if we’re all honest. We played very average in that second half. They had way more field goal attempts and should’ve nailed two or three of them. So I’m delighted we somehow managed to get a win but we need to play a million times better to make it to the finals.
Dishonestly😉, I think we did, Fattysalmon.

You really define deserving to win by how many field goal attempts the Dutton-lovin’, Dodgy RAM-drivin’, Stetson-wearin’ Stockmen fluffed?

Was the pass ruled forward to Haumole from Saab really forward? Was the Garrick try really a ‘no try’? We whuzz nearly robbed I tells ya!

The look on the likes of Scotty Guzzlesteam’s and Hal Volmes’s faces at the end was priceless.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

nooooot! Nooooooot!!

Just finished watching, doctor is on their way to lower my heart rate and BP..!

SO happy to get a win, for all those who said "a 1 point win will be good enough" - I hope I don't have to go through too many more.

It wasn't pretty mate but a win's a win, who knows it might kick start a run, just relax bud and enjoy the victory it's not like we're able to celebrate one that often
The main thing I took out of this comment is the “might” in previous years there wasn’t a question about what type of performances we were going to be bringing. I think Siebold has served his purpose in bringing our great club forward from the training in demountable days but I do think we will need to source a winning edge before the premiership eventually finds its way back home. Always happy to be proven wrong though, for today I’ll take the win. Manly forever

We worked very hard making too many silly errors in the second half and we had some luck. Fortunately the Cowboys weren’t ahead 18 - 12 at half time. Enjoying the win but we need to at least play smarter footy. Garrick’s stupid flick pass whilst getting man handled in defence should have cost us the game. Lucky they missed their field goal attempt. The people in the bunker need to get a clearance from OPSM before being allowed in. There is no way Saab tackled the player in the air as he had eyes on the ball and was looking up at it. Pathetic decision.

Somehow found a way to win adage was all that mattered last night and really had to show some serious team character to stay in the game at vital times .
Kicking superior game from D C E and Brooks probably played a pretty big factor as well , something like 850 meters compared with the Cows 580 or there abouts
Missed opportunities for both sides of course but just seemed to add to the drama type nature and truly staggering with the number of missed field goals , an element of luck there Manly 's way but really does not matter in the final washup .
Pretty gutsy effort by both sides really and both having to fight back under some adversity but Manly nearly blew their prospects with that particularly untidy period just after half time to give the Cows a sniff .
The way they were able to recover and hang in there made all the difference again .
Full praise to D C E, great captain's knock , Jake and Brown terrific efforts , Bully is just going to be part of the mix even when Tent returns .,some classy finishing from Saab , Talau continues to impress
Everyone else played their role to whatever extent but reduce that unforced error and ill discipline rate , should make them even more competitive .
Exceptional win in the circumstances , going to take a bit out of the side going forward but the will to win and team spirit is there in abundance

Much better defense, but again Manly races ahead and then goes to sleep allowing the other side to catch up. Its the old Tortoise-Hare scenario. Have never seen a side to consistently follow this pattern over and over.

I think last nights games panned out a little differently to our previous scenarios.

We always come out and start fast so the early lead is mostly forecasted.
Due to the humidity and our early high tempo start caused us to fade very quickly in those conditions.
Compounding this the Cowboys absorbed the early onslaught and were winning the arm wrestle during the cycle of the contest.

Even though we skipped out to a 12 point lead we really didn’t deserve it, was always at risk.
The 2nd half was all guts given the situation we found ourselves in and that’s all we can really ask for as fans.

To be in the contest right to the end is character building for this team. We really needed to win ugly to slip into better habits and finding different ways to get the Dub.

The ridiculousness of that Saab decision was highlighted within 5 minutes when the Cows did the exact same thing up the other end and crickets…

Gutsy performance, really happy for the team as everyone put in.

Still a lot we need to be better at and get rught. But I didn’t expect to win that one so will take it the way it came.

Cherry played very well, except that short drop out in field goal time, terrible decision making.

Tom was rusty and certainly didnt look a centre.

Brookes needs to be better, looks like he is just doing the bare minimum

Brown was immense, Jake fantastic, bully, and Talau out other great tperformers.

Need to beat the knights at home Next week to consolidate. Hopefully the torrid game and humidity didn’t knock us around to much but we looked pretty stuffed for a lot of that game

So happy. Just makes weekends taste better when manly get up

Dear Manly

Can we please practice and prioritise how to play the game when we are on top and ahead on the scoreboard? Just a humble suggestion from a sausage roll-eating fan.

Regards
Really Farrkked Off & Sick Of It.
Even when we were up 18-6 i thought, how is this possible. The Cows had us backpedaling in the yardage game and making bonehead plays and errors. When it got to 18all we morphed into a different team from the one before, just going set for set in the last 20min it was a white knuckle ride all the way to GP and Cherry's Fg...one for the ages..

Yep, this is another example of why we all get frustrated with the refereeing and bunker.
Because we "scored" with the Saab decision the ref knows he can get it checked - and they were never going to overrule it - yet if Garrick doesn't score he would've played on, six again, nothing to see here.

With the Talau one as he didn't spill the ball or get injured it was play on so no bunker intervention.

Same action, different outcome.

A bit like the late penalty on DCE, if he doesn't make a bird of it and fall over, do we still get the penalty?
I doubt it.

to quote seibold- im proud of the boys, win , lose or draw🤣

One should be proud of the effort the team showed in that game win loose or draw.

No one is happy with a loss.

The dressing room is a pretty appropriate place for a coach to voice the areas where there is a need for improvement, so games like that aren't beyond our own control.

Id be pretty pissed as a player if I busted my guts, in a game like that, sure I made mistakes, but if all the coach had to say after was how the team weren't perfect. It would be an even bigger kick. Such kicks should be selective and not the norm to have impact.

Long live positivity and a Manly coach that's not publically bagging his own men.

Take another look at the disallowed try due to Saab’s forward pass.

Dce does an amazing pass that Saab runs on to and makes the break.

Inside him Reuben is held back by cotter (I think) grabbing his jersey. So that means Garrick is not available to receive a simpler pass from Saab. The absence of Garrick means Saab needed to push a longer and more difficult pass, which drifted forward.

Manly should have got a penalty.

JUDICIARY CHARGES:

Luke Brooks (Manly)
  • Grade 1 Careless High Tackle on Kyle Feldt (33 min)
  • Base penalty $1500
  • His options:
    $1500 - guilty / no contest
    $1000 - early plea
  • PLEA: TBC

As we were out last night at the Speedway ( a real hoot ) and not home until late I watched the game this morning in replay.

Obviously always different when you know the result , but it’s also interesting as to how you view player performances.

I see Garrick was caned in the comments I read before viewing, one stupid pass ( I agree ) but overall I thought he did pretty well.

That was a DCE master class last night , yes maybe not 10/10 but certainly 9.5 out of 10.

That block by Jurbo probably won us the match.

Tom should have had another week off he was a shadow of his former self out there.

Koula looks at home at 1.

Nathan Brown , I tip my hat to you , that was AWSOME.

Tommy Talau , was lamblasted when we signed him but has been, and was again , terrific.

I do think we are missing big Paseka as the middles weren’t that effective, except for Bully when he came off the bench , he was great.

Not a pretty game , but I never expected it to be easy up there and let’s face it , 2 points is 2 points.
