I have to say… there were two sublime passes from DCE tonight that I have never seen the likes of before in my 4+ decades of watching footy.

1. The sneak through pass to Saab for the first try
2. The long lofted pass out front for Saab to run onto in the second

Those two passes I’ve never seen anything near them. Cliffy timed his passes and dazzled defences, but what DCE did with those two was just mind-blowing.
Hate to quote myself, it isn’t ego…. But seriously?.. really? Has anybody ever seen a pass soooo far in front of a runner? I personally haven’t.

Sack Seibold! absolute dud

we have then 5 go’s to win that and won on luck
Been drinking too much of this stuff mate

Haven't seen the game but looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. I have seen the 1st one on the highlights - certainly one of his best.

Thanks mate. Had a bit of a meltdown, and went in with kidney stone pain (which is torrid), and they found a lump in my lung (which is really scary), when they did the MRI.

So dealing with that ATM..
Take it easy Ryan.

So, no presser for Manly on super Saturday? We get o watch the loser Peyton, but nothing for the winning team?

Guys, the more I see Lawton play backrow, the more I'd love to see a fulltime, smaller, agile, skilled type body playing 12 or 13.

What are other people's thoughts?
We got lucky numerous times tonight, and Burbo being forced off was another lucky break for us. Not only did it force us to use Lawton as an edge forward, which is his best position, but it meant Simpkin had to come on as dummy half. Win-win.

Here are some good stats from the game -

92% Tackle Effectiveness (401 tackles made and only 21 tackles missed)

Koula ran for 298 metres

DCE - 4 Line Break Assists

Tom made 25 tackles with zero missed

Garrick - 70 post contact metres (194 running metres)

Koula - 7 Tackle Breaks (game high)

Talau - 6 Tackle Breaks (2nd)

I think you need a larger body who can break the line or get an offload away when they get the face balls, a hard d nosed defender would help Brooks IMO.

Luck was on our side tonight, and I'm happy we got the win, but f**k me, this side is frustrating to watch. And again, as soon as we get out to a lead (completely against the run of play), we start going for easy option hero plays, throwing the ball around like we're the Harlem f**king Globetrotters, and inviting the opposition back into the contest. It's almost as if the players don't remember the numerous defeats we've had this season alone when leading by 10 points or more. I keep thinking the penny has to drop sooner or later, but it never does. Respect the ball, respect the opposition, don't beat yourselves. Simples.

Think it’s pretty evident we need that. Bullemore has been getting us movin with a bit more uptempo play lately. Same as brown. We need some more variation in different body types away from big and bargey.

I
Mate, watch that pass in the second half that freed Saab outside. Saab screwed it with a forward pass, but DCE’s pass to Saab was sublime IMO
It Was a ridiculous ball. Amazing vision by Daly knowing that Saab would be one of the few players quick enough to get there for that ball.

I agree with you, it’s frustrating and we needed to complete in that tricky period after halftime when the Cowboys were on top…but…I think they shift the ball and go for those plays to try and make yards. It’s not so much a try scoring tactic as it’s a way of mitigating the Cowboys dominance in defence that stops our middles from making any inroads.

It’s a big problem. There just is not enough power, leg speed and energy in our yardage sets, across the entire team, not just the middles. We cannot get enough momentum to stay in a field position battle. That kinda forces our hand with this tactic of shifting the ball, which can lead to errors and compounds the problem.

Super stressful but awesome win! 🥳

As for Fox - 1) no mention of Burbo's HIA result, 2) interview Saab and don't even ask him about his injury and 3) don't show Seib's presser (which they always do normally) 😡

Fingers crossed for Burbo, Saab and Brooks on report. Hopefully Waddell returns next week.

Anyway, we're back in the 8 and with a bit of luck we'll hopefully stay there 🎉
