Which just proves that the salary cap is a myth and a farce. It restricts player salaries, while at the same time clubs can freely spend and even go broke on anything else they want. The cap was supposed to even out the comp. But it doesn't and can't.

I understand your point; however, I don’t believe this is entirely accurate. There is a salary cap on staff now, has been for a couple of years I believe. It incorporates coaching staff and all support staff such as trainers and rehab. The difference is that if they breach it there is no threat of points being stripped etc, only a financial penalty; that is to say you can openly breach it, but you’ll pay a certain amount to the NRL for the portion over the cap.

So the rich clubs can just pay overs if they are willing to take the hit. The trouble is, clubs like Manly can’t even pay up to the cap for staff.
