Congrats Tom Amone

If he isn't moved into the top 29 for the start of the year, I think we should be further disillusioned and further pissed off with management.

A club has to reward blokes in your system that do the hard yards and just demand to be selected.

All reports on here suggest he had exactly such a year. And head and shoulders above anyone else at Blacktown.

You have a pathway to your top grade for a reason. We are skinny in positions he plays. Club keep crying poor. So it is an absolute no brainer to give this man a new challenge in the NRL.

Under Penn's ownership though, nothing at this bloody club seems to have any rhyme or reason or just be done right anyamore.

I half expect this poor bloke will have to go else where for an opportunity.

Probably would offer more value then Perrett at the present time unless Lloyd can pick up his game quite a bit for next season . Would have to manage a fairly quick learning curve and application to ist grade defence requirements but that young former 20 "s back row player , young Olka and especially as a ball runner seemed to have real potential and ideally would also be in contention as a top 30 inclusion . Have to be very selective in this area admittedly [ and again young Olka is still a work in progress ] but these two would have to be given some serious consideration for top 30 berths .

He was moved back to lock this year after being forced to play at prop last year and has developed into an 80 minute worker in the middle(had many games playing the full 80).Has had massive involvement each week and has the ball skills and footwork, has to be in the 30 man squad or the people in charge are mad...lol.Could easily play at lock and allow Jake to move to prop or could come on and play big minutes allowing Jake to play later in the first half at prop and have a higher workrate pack after the big boppers go off at he 20 minute mark.Has enough athleticism to play on the edge if needed, excellent bench player or starter.Give him a contract FFS.

100% agree

I mentioned this a few months back, could easliy be our starting lock and move jake to prop to strengthen that area.
Imagine jake kapow AFB and Tanga as our front row rotation

Yep,and Paseka/Sipley as depth at prop, have been a fan since we first signed him and was promoted to train with the NRL side straight out of the Eels 20s' side when with Blacktown,he has done the hard yards and proven himself the last 2 years, hope we don't lose him now....He is so versatile as a running forward, not many like that around at this level, but best spot is probably at lock.Would also like to see Tramontana at 9 given a shot at a spot as well, very agressive and a bit of a niggler, but a leader, scored a couple of tries off the bench in the few opportunities he got at Intrust level.

He's the kinda worker we need. Does all the hard runs when others are out the back catching their breath. He's made for NRL. A future kiwi and surely deserves a spot in the 30. And we'd get him for a bargain price too

Have always thought Jake could make a good backrower. Although doesn’t matter where you play him he is a gun.

Ill upset the apple cart with this.

I've never been completely sold on Jake at Lock. To be fair he probably had his best year there, and showed he can ball play a bit better then we've seen previously. Earlier in the year at least.

It's all just a bit too slow by hand, and foot for my liking.

He's Paul Gallen 2.0. Brilliant in his own right, never stops, great heart, great work rate, he is a machine.

But at some stage I think the question does have to be asked. Is he really the bloke who we want with his hands on the ball all the time?

It may be the last 20 minutes and a more attacking option comes on.

Gifty was way more agile, and just the footy smarts of one of the greatest five eight ever.

Jake is an amazingly talented front rower, who offers a bit more and can play 80 minutes.

But I think the club should be open to experimenting a little bit more in the forwards.

Jake's a middle forward, doesn't matter if that is at lock or prop, it's just a number on a jersey these days. He's playing his best "area' (as was Gift on the edge). I agree he did overdo the ball playing a bit this year, i'd rather he did that at, or through, the line rather than before it. But I suspect that was coaches call because we lacked a 6 for most of the year and he was looking for something outside of DCE to create. I think Jake is best when he concentrates on taking on the line and the ball playing comes off the back of that.

Thank you, it is a little pet peeve of mine when people compare Gift at lock with players like Jake, Merrin, Taumololo, De Belin

It is edge forward or middle forward these days and Gift played on the edge to great effect. Jake wears the same number but plays as one of the 3 middle forwards

Really need Jake on the paddock for the full eighty or as close as possible to it and doubt that this will be manageable if he is moved to prop . Just as he has been very effective at S O O level , preferably has to be in the back row and as a middle forward and depending on other personal available at the time for back row positions at Manly , being the main ball player there would be optional ..

I like a 60 minute Jake so Amone may offer some flexibility. Can he cut it elsewhere or just lock though?
