Congrats Daly!!!

Just listening to him following the announcement and I must say Daly is an absolute credit to himself, family and club.

I’m proudly a New South Welshman, but I won’t be disappointed if he led his state to a win next week.

Definitely conducts himself well in the media in a polished well spoken way that makes our club look good, works so hard on the field especially in defense and kick chase that shows leadership qualities by his actions, trains hard with attention to detail also, but i don't see Daly as a leader that inspires confidence in others.

Actually surprisingly few given our successful history. Just Krilich and Tooves for NSW and Australia, Ridge and Foran for NZ and Kite for Tonga. Not sure if Reilly ever captained England.

Geoff Toovey comes to mind. Captained both state and country I believe. He had great success in SOO too

Jamie Lyon could potentially have captained NSW but made a great decision to retire from SOO

I used to think along those lines mate, but I think he certainly does now. I recall prior to the Dragons game this year with plenty of troops out, he had all the boys together in the dressing sheds addressing them in a way I hadn’t seen before, looking to inspire those around him - also picked up by the commentators at the time.

I will be intrigued to see him in the lead up to this game and specifically pre game next Wednesday night.

As far as Origin goes.....

Thrower was NSW captain in 1982 and 1983.

Fatty was Qld captain in Game 1 of 1988 (he was also captain for Game 1 of 1990 when at Easts). Fatty was also the unofficial Qld vice-captain from around 1984-1989.

Tooves was NSW captain in 1997.

Mal Reilly never played for England or Great Britain while he was at Manly. Back in those days if you didn't play in the RFL, you didn't even come into consideration for national selection, let alone be the captain. The first player to captain either team while playing elsewhere was when Denis Betts captained the England 1995 World Cup squad when he was playing for the Auckland Warriors.

Surprisingly, Bob Fulton didn't captain Australia until he was playing for Easts.

Let's just hope it was the two heads at the GC bulletin, Tallis, and some other sewer dwellers that were all aghast at the legal change of mind and Qld in general are happy with the choice.

I'd have preferred a game or two back for Manly first, that's a concern for me.

You won’t be surprised that they blocked me from the page pretty quickly ( and no doubt removed the photo).

However I’m on a mission to post it up everywhere I can on Queensland pages ( just to remind them what ****ing wankers they were at the time).
