Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

There were a hell of a lot of posters on here saying that he was ready!

If Siebold gives a kid a go and he fails we criticize him. If he doesn't replace croker with a development player he gets critised!

I wasn't one of those posters.

It was obvious Kao wasn't ready for first grade when he struggled as a utility coming off the bench playing limited minutes. Yet our spoonman coach threw him into 5/8 against the Riff at home. Kao was badly exposed that night and his confidence was shot.

Spoonman then doubled down by throwing him into fullback against strong opposition and it was more of the same, further eroding any confidence the young kid might have had left.

For perspective, the great Tom Trbojevic debuted on the wing.

Our spoonman coach is a skittish desperado.

I think the reason he isn't playing GCKT is because his strength/tackling consistency isnt where it needs to be, I know someone will pull up his stats and say he isnt that bad defensively, guess you cant factor in that 1st grade players are faster and more powerful than most reserve graders, and this will be exploited.
expect to see him in 1st grade next year after a good of season.

Spoony knew we needed an impact nine coming off the bench. That's why he selected a young inexperienced fullback for that very role at the beginning of this season. When the young fullback failed to excel as a hooker, Spoony got spooked and threw the baby out with the bathwater.

I agree with you on not recruiting another hooker, surely there would be either a journeyman or a lower grader they could have gone after.

Noticed they moved Jamie Humphrey from the halves to hooker several weeks ago.

From the very limited broadcasting of Fleg, we are reduced to watching highlights for the most part, so very hard to say that he has the "IT" factor to become a 1st grader.

hoping that he does and shows enough to get promoted to the top 30 or at least development spot on next year's roster.

A number of your arguments are ridiculous.

Seibold is responsible for bringing Weekes in and then dumping him after playing Kao at nine, six and one.

Siebold is responsible for signing Jake Arthur.

Siebold is responsible for signing Cooper Johns.

Seibold is responsible for signing Aaron Woods.

Siebold is responsible for not providing support to Lachlan Croker.

The Matthew Lodge signing was Jake's idea as per Seibold.

Injuries happen to every side.

I wouldn’t say they are stupid or unreasonable and deserving to be laughed at:
The signings are done within the club do you think Seilbold has full control of all signings
Woods for depth on practically zero dollars and in the top 18 now cause of injuries that happen to every side
Seibold has coached Lodge before knows the guy but you want to give credit to Jake for that signing but all others are Seilbold’s
Gave Weekes an opportunity knows he has talent plenty of good judges would have given him a run didn’t work out that one’s on Seibold but still given a opportunity not the first coach to do that
We can disagree , I still think he deserves more than what some want to give him

Fair enough, but I disagree mate. I don't believe Woods would make any other game day squad in the NRL unless they had no one else available. Shazza should be in NSW Cup. The Cooper Johns signing is entirely crap. Why did Siebold sign this guy? He was utterly horrible at Melbourne. Jake Arthur might turn out to be decent, but he isn't what we needed this season. We already have Humphries and now we have signed Brooks to go with DCE and Schuster. We had to buy a hooker, we may still require a nine to help Croker next season if Gordon isn't up to it.

Matthew Lodge was good business, but Spoony said Jake suggested we try and get him.

There's nothing wrong with giving Weekes a run, but to throw a rookie fullback in at nine after he trained all off season as cover for Turbo is fcukin dumb. To then trot him out at six against one of the best football sides ever at their home ground is absolute lunacy. And finally selecting him in his actual position when he's rattled? Well, that just tops off the crazy ineptitude from our "coach."

They are too similar. We need a proper fcuking hooker, not another makeshift nine.

I love Croker and believe his attributes would be so much more beneficial if we had a specialist hooker to come on for 15 minutes either side of halftime. I actually feel very sorry for Lachlan. He's doing the work of two players, and at times he's forced to step away from his natural game. The bloke is a Trojan workhorse. I shudder to think of the blowouts we would be forced to endure if Lachlan wasn't in the side. Spoony will be under the pump next season.

As a lifelong Manly supporter I hope Siebold evolves into a great coach.

Can I suggest that if we win some of the trials in 2024 that we contain our excitement.… this site had us in the top 4 with a couple of Messiahs after the trials this year…. The only way was down after that!

Theyre too similar in playing style. We need an organiser and creator from dummy half. We have been constantly found out just about every week for the last few years. Some posters disagree, who think a hooker's only job is to tackle.
