Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

Credit to Seibs , he put a bit more effort into line speed in defence and number in tackles.

Let's see if we can maintain this intensity over the next month.

Remember, we came off a bye with zero Origin players, so I would have been really pissed if we didn't play well.
I think ( and @susan mentioned this as well last night ) that there’s been a distinct difference in the game plan the last 3 games, very much playing to what little strengths we have.

I’ve always believed it’s never all to do with the coach ( win or loss ) there’s a complete football department that makes decisions , works on game plans and make the final selections.

So I’m not going to credit the coach , he’s just the front man , it’s a team ( players and staff ) effort.

The ASS can’t be happy , all they want are whoopings and the coach sacked , wins don’t fit their narrative.

It’s sad really , I thought we were all Manly fans but apparently some would prefer whoopings instead.
Wins against Melbourne in Melbourne are as almost as rare as a winning a premiership.....

Well good on seibs for assembling the staff.

You Know If only we won those 2 games against Knights and Titans (that we should have) we would now be in 4th spot

Since those losses, Hopoate has moved to fullback, Tom to centre, Garrick to wing... and we now keep Talau on the bench for insurance. So far it seems to be working.

Would those changes have happened if we had won against the Knights and Titans? Would we have won last night with our former back line? I'd suggest probably not.

In any case, it is done and we can only keep winning as many of the remaining games as possible.

Hmmm

In the last 10 years we have beaten Melb in Melb in 2015, 2018, 2019.

Not quite as hard as it seems and nothing like a premiership .

I really hope the players and coach don't get carried away like what is happening on ST atm aa we have much to prove.

I find it incredibly amusing that if we lose, it’s Penn the penny pinching owners fault. But if we win, no mention is made. I thought we couldn’t compete against the marvellous storm system? You can’t have it both ways.
This is like the climate change vs weather arguement. Just because it's a cold day, doesn't mean the earth is cooling down.

For instance, we beat the Storm in Melbourne in 2018. That wasn't exactly confirmation that Penn was a genius for hiring Barrett, or that we were destined for future success.

Often we lose primarily because of the same frustrating reasons, that have been the same for years; the big three not holding up, the coach not inspiring them, atrocious middles, and no juniors, hence no depth. Those can be very easily traced back to a common source. There's been one commonality through all these pitfalls.

If we lost a game by a point, I don't think you'd see people bagging Penn. It's when we are uncompetitive due to the same issues, that have been plaguing us for years, that he has presided over. We aimed up last night.

Either way we won. WOOHOO!!!

Long way to go yet , a stirring victory but cannot rest on those laurels , the next one is very winnable , concentrate on that now.

I would not say “carried away” really @XV-1

More like appreciating a good, hard-fought win… we have had a LOT of injuries this year yet have beaten 4 of the 6 teams ahead of us on the table (and 4 of the 5 we have played)… we are still without our no. 1 prop, our no. 2 prop and our $1M edge forward…

The year has been more than a little frustrating for most supporters I reckon so just let us be a little happy…

Stokesy, I am as ecstatic as any Manly fan at the win, but some of the commentary is we have almost won the comp and are in the finals.
We aren't, and collectively have a lot of work to do to ensure we are in the finals and a chance for the title.

Treat this as a little foreplay, but we need to make sure we don't reach our peak at the wrong time 🫣😛
