Yep, the NRL hierarchy really need to get on top of this.
Compassionate grounds can be twisted to encompass mental health grounds and everyone treads lightly there now, it's still a relatively unknown condition in a lot of ways.
Clubs need to be compensated, just stopping players from signing with new club for more $$ doesn't really help the club if they've invested in the player.
Surely a transfer fee system/sliding scale that is transparent to all parties could be implemented, whether it's based on years served, length of contract, time of season etc.

I think the compensation for us is that we don't have to pay AFB 800k next year and 850k the year after.
For that sort of money you can probably have Paseka and Keppie
