Club news

Would rather discuss footy with you, and leave the other discussion to the m'ship team as they get paid!

(Bourbons on you!)

PS: suggesting to an o/s member to travel to aust knowing there's travel restrictions and to discuss the teams lack of empathy towards o/s members could sound ironic / mean.

Send vegemite!

lol

(I didn't take it that way).
Well you can’t say you weren’t invited

We would like to provide you with an update on the status of your 2021 Membership pack.

Unfortunately due to a slight delay with one of our overseas suppliers, the Membership packs are now due to arrive to the doorsteps of our Members in late January/early February rather than early January as previously expected.

We appreciate your support and understanding, should you have any questions please feel free to contact [email protected].

It’s only a hat , who cares !!

I guess with the lock-down of the Northern Beaches that players will be spared training for the foreseeable future.

The squad was finishing up next week so will only lose a couple of days - unless it is considered work which is allowable under the lockdown. If they do train it will have to be outdoors as gyms are closed

Some great stuff for the history buffs the club will be putting out to celebrate 75yrs

That is factually incorrect.

The powers that be now recognise full internationals in World Cup/Series tournaments as test matches. So Bull’s 22 should read 25 tests.

Wake up Manly-Warringah, especially the dickbrains in the onetime Pittwater LGA.😉

Love to see us have a storming season for the sake of all Manly fans but especially for a guy like Marty. He has been the ultimate professional, cutting out the loose play that led to some suspensions, keeping up his fitness and staying on the field, and doing a number of positive things in the community that all reflect well on Manly. He's not the only one, we've got a number of good people in our side, would be great to see them scale the heights in 2021!

He was still the first choice in 1980, but he withdrew from selection for the 1980 NZ tour, his place going to the late Garry Dowling (tragically killed in a GC hinterland car accident in Mar 83) from the Parramatta club.

In those days voluntarily withdrawing from selection was often the death knell of your rep career. However key selectors wanted him to make himself available for the 1982 Kangaroo tour and there was a push for him to return to the Australian team in 1983, despite his intention to retire before his 30th birthday in Nov 83 and also not having played SOO since the first match back in 1980.

He missed any chance of selection in the Australian teams of 1981 (vs France) and 1982 (vs NZ) in part because Ray Ritchie had a policy of insisting that star players must come back through reserve grade (in Eadie’s case after two longish injury breaks in both seasons).

Plus other players like Ross Windshuttle in ‘81 and Mike Eden in ‘82 were doing a fine job of deputising for him.

Today’s legend from 75 series is my all time favorite Eagles - Graham Eadie

As much as I love Snake, it's hard to go past Wombat when you talk best ever fullbacks. I reckon Wombat would still dominate in the modern game, he was that good.

Yep I agree - he could run past them or run through them or run over them. He could kick goals from anywhere and could defend like a forward. He could bring the ball back from a deep kick at a hundred miles an hour and so in today's game he would be amazing getting us out of the red zone. Turbo IF he can stay healthy might end up being the better fullback but at the moment Eadie is our best number 1 ever, Snake 2, Turbo - TBD (TO BE DECIDED)!
