That’s correct - if ticketed members don’t attend the club counts them still pre game as attending. Otherwise they would risk being over capacity on game day.Genuine question.
If season ticket holders dont attend, those seats will be empty but the ground could conceivably be sold out no?
Thanks for the information. That’s correct - if ticketed members don’t attend the club counts them still pre game as attending. Otherwise they would risk being over capacity on game day.
When I was involved on members council from memory on average around a third of ticket holders didn’t front on game day.
NB members do have the option of returning their tix to the pool if they can’t attend - and getting a refund of sorts if they do.
I believe the crowd figure given on the day is based on the number of people through the turnstiles not on the number of tickets sold or memberships held. Unfortunately the capacity is nowhere near the old days of 26000 (which was great fun). The new stand reduces the capacity as does crowd control rules etc. I think it’s around 19k nowadays but I’ll stand corrected if someone knows for sure. Thanks for the information.
Does this mean on a day pouring with rain, say, that the 3,000-odd hearty spectators that turn up would be counted as a crowd of 12,000?
What is the official capacity of Brookie these days, and who makes this assessment?
I was among the crowd of 26,000-odd at least a couple of times in the 1970s and 80s. I can't remember any crowd issues although everyone on the Hill was standing.

When is that list from?
Yeah the capacity of the hill has been slashed ever since they introduced those corridors on each side.I believe the crowd figure given on the day is based on the number of people through the turnstiles not on the number of tickets sold or memberships held. WOW….that is astonishing news. OMG let’s get the whip out! Let’s start a petition to have the boys fined or dropped for next weeks game. We need to start a separate thread! Can’t believe this is a headline! What a fu<king joke from the Telecrap! This is in todays telecr@p. I would be extremely disappointed in the club if this was true.....
Manly has been accused of disrespecting club legend Malcolm Reilly in the aftermath of Thursday night’s golden-point loss to the Newcastle Knights.
Shattered Sea Eagles players walked straight to the dressing sheds after blowing a 16-0 halftime lead instead of taking part in the presentation for the Malcolm Reilly Challenge Trophy.
The two clubs have played for the trophy since 2007 to honour the legendary Manly forward and Knights premiership winning coach.
It has been an annual tradition since 2007.
On Thursday night Manly players were back in the sheds by the time Knights skipper Kalyn Ponga accepted the trophy on behalf of the club.
Sea Eagles chief executive Tony Mestrov put it down to a miscommunication in that his football department was not informed before the game that the presentation would take place.
This excuse didn’t go down well with the Knights.
Especially as it has been a practice for both sides to remain on the field for the last 18 years.
And that Manly had actually promoted the fact on social media that the teams were playing for the trophy.
It was there on gameday morning in black and white on the Manly website saying: “His (Reilly’s) son Glen, who will present the trophy to the winning team on Thursday night, says his father is in good spirits.”
We can understand the disappointment of Manly’s players but it’s no excuse.
Reilly’s son, who lives in Newcastle, presents the trophy after each game.
We spoke to him on Saturday morning about the situation.
“No comment - I don’t want to say anything detrimental about Manly in the press,” he said.
Malcolm Reilly is still recovering from a cancer scare that required surgery in England earlier this year.
You don't think its a bit disrespectful at all....WOW….that is astonishing news. OMG let’s get the whip out! Let’s start a petition to have the boys fined or dropped for next weeks game. We need to start a separate thread! Can’t believe this is a headline! What a fu<king joke from the Telecrap!
